Easy check in, cute space in an historic town. We struggled with the freight train noise across the street as they ran overnight and sound the horn multiple times
Great location & spacious environment. We had 8 people - everyone had a place to sleep with 3 bedrooms & 1 pull out couch. Enjoyed the back patio with use of a grill along with communal spaces. Beautiful sunset & walking locations to check out the town. Very easy to check in & safe. Convenient parking out front. Hosts responded quickly to questions. However, there was some difficulties. The place did not have a broom or vacuum - limited cleaning options. No grilling utensils - even though they were listed. No oil or spray for cooking. Accommodations were comfortable but no additional pillows or blankets for the pullout couch. Be aware that trains come through frequently - sound machines are provided. Water also loses heat quickly during showers. Many towels available which was great. Overall, we had a great weekend with some minor inconveniences.
Great weekend! Accommodations were perfect for the weekend. Noise machines in each room were a great surprise and much appreciated. We would love to come back.
We had a very nice stay at the Big River Inn! The unit looked just like the photos. The location is great; you can walk to numerous places to eat or grab a beer. There are museums, places to hike, and so much scenic beauty close by. The hosts were great with their communication. The only downside (as others have noted) is that you will hear trains here, although they seem quieter at night.
We stayed in Alma for my nieceâs wedding. The apartment above the theater was perfect for my husband and I and our two grown sons. The 3 bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We did have issues with wasps and box elder bugs in the apartment but found some spray to kill them. Overall we had a very nice stay.
Quaint, spacious place to stay. Clean but could use a deep clean for cobwebs. No kitchen towels or dishrags to wash dishes (no dishwasher). Room Air conditioners were very loud and rackety sounding. Unfortunately, the train was too loud for sleeping, even with ac units on for one of us. Beautiful bluffs looking over the river from the winery in town. We had a lovely time.
This is a beautifully restored and decorated apartment above an old theater facing the Mississippi River. Three large bedrooms, an updated kitchen, and sweet outdoor space off of the main bedroom made this a great place to stay. The host was responsive and pleasant to work with communicating promptly. If you enjoy staying at places with history and charm, I would recommend a trip to Alma to stay at the Big River Inn!
