The hotel was great, good location, everything was perfect until 10am on the checkout day (two hours before the checkout time) a cleaner walked into our room with no notice to both of us being naked getting ready. Absolute disgrace, we had an argument with the cleaner and she said it was our fault for not putting something on the door, even though we were still hours away from checkout. Wait down to reception, they said nothing could be done. Although this hotel is an ideal location, I wouldn’t stay here, unless you want to be walked in on stark naked and then made to feel like it was YOUR fault, do not stay here.

The room was great, quiet and spacious. The hotel location is unbeatable, right next to the train station and so close to restaurants and shops in the centre of Amsterdam. The bar area is very nice and the breakfast was good. My only complaint is that the showers are a little slippery. I didn’t have an issue but my Dad (80) did, he needed something to be able to grab in there for his safety.

The breakfast was ok, but we were challenged upon arrival at breakfast time - that we'd only paid for one person, when I had my hotels-dot-com invoice showing otherwise/ Went to the counter later to get this put right but was met with a man with some attitude. He said it was a hotels-dot-com thing not being booked correctly, and he could not fix it. He suggested I show my invoice if challenged at breakfast. The next day we were challenged again. This time I wrote to Ibis to complain. It was ultimately resolved, but they don't truly seem sorry. They didn't grasp that it should have simply been fixed immediately. I was assured I didn't do anything wrong - which, um, I already knew. I should not have had to push for this. It put a sour note on our visit.

Room needed a little maintenance done. The AC hardly blows any cool air. They did give us a fan to put in the window. Room has no phone to downstairs and no fridge which was my fault. Also you have to take different elevators if you're on the 9th floor.

Had a great stay. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Only slight criticism is the pillows were too soft and could do with being firmer, and couldn’t work out the aircon in the room. Didn’t matter which way we turned the dial it didn’t seem to cool the room, but still a great stay and will return.
