The photos are a bit misleading. The place is very darkish and the floors are very slanted and sloped. The neighborhood seemed fine. No one in Alaska mows lawns so itâs very much like staying in the woods. We didnât use the kitchen. It was mostly clean. The place is very worn and dated.
Overall stay in the cabin was pleasant, beautiful rustic cabin feels in an amazing girdwood location. However the property requires major upgrades. The shower in one of the bathroom was not working.
When we arrived, the cleaning person was still at the residence. She told us we could come in but we went to get something to eat instead.
The residence was musty smelling and I'm guessing there is no building code there because it would never pass lol. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it. The pictures are a bit deceiving.outdated.old and outdated and wmany
nice place overall, no internet which wasn't a big deal for us but just misleading advertising. maybe it could have been troubleshooted but we couldnt reach an actual human for help, customer service was just a robot. Check in was delayed an hour too. Main issue was being unable to communicate with an actual person for help, only a chat bot.
0 complaints, everything was super clean and very spacious for my wife and I. Girdwood was a very cool town, the surrounding houses were beautiful! Not a complaint... but the house was outdated, my wife and i looked at it as staying in an antique kinda cabin!
Love the property. Had everything we needed. Just a bit more rustic than pictures provided, but we didnât mind. Had a very nice stay and would love to come back sometime.
So cute, the loft was perfect for the teens. Super close to slopes. Adult bedroom removed from the kids, thank you. Watching DVDs from the diverse collection was nostalgic and fun.
The house was fine, just disappointed that we had to wait to check in until 4:10. Regular check in was at 4 which is late in my opinion, but we were sitting outside at 3:30 (we arrived early) and the guy was just showing up to clean. We were surprised when it did not have the makings for a pot of coffee. It would have been a nice courtesy. But a nice place to stay.
I wish i could've stayed here longer but unfortunately i had to leave to come back to the thing called work! You could sit on the front porch and drink coffee, and watch some moose, walk to some water falls, or play in yard with kids. I would come back again!
One of the reasons we picked this location was a great view and a nice screened in porch but the windows were all dirty/cloudy upon arrival. spider webs and dead flies on the porch, and as others have said, the floors are uneven, noticeably so.
Pros: location, loft and main sitting area, sauna
Cons: funky smell to the bedroom and connected bathroom (we believe to have found rodent droppings by the vanity), missing blind in loft, and when we went to drop garbage at the outlined location it was not accessible early morning (prior to 8am). Luckily, a worker came out and took our trash after we hit a call button
Cabin is cute, clean enough. Alot of slants. There was issues with electricity, one day lost power to part of place, next day breaker blew for kitchen. The fan/light combo in living room should be looked at, it flashes and wobbles really bad like the light part is about to fall. Would also have been nice to hose down the outside porch-layers of pollen! May look at doing again next July tho, convenient to Forest Fair. Thank you
This property was easy to locate and in a great location for area activities. However, it is in need of dire repair and attention. The cabin smelled of smoke immediately upon entry and was not in proper condition for guests. The floors were dirty, cobwebs hanging from lights, mold and hair in the bathrooms, a bowl to catch water was under the kitchen sink and the shower head was taped on in one of the bathrooms, the back deck receives little sun was dirty and do not book this listing for the Sauna because it does not work, the TV has no remote with no streaming services available and the WIFI did not connect. We arrived at 2am and notified vacasa first thing during business hours. We texted, called and got shuffled around for hours before involving VRBO as well. Ultimately we left the property without resolution and hoped for a partial refund. The smell and inability to take a decent shower was not acceptable. A partial refund was eventually received but this cabin was not as described and a complete let down.
We rented for a few days after my sisterâs wedding so that family & friends could have some calm hang out time together. We loved the sound of the rain on the roof from the loft and looking out the living room windows at the trees/greenery. The beds were very comfortable; however, the red sofa in the living room is VERY uncomfortable to sit on (we never tried it as a fold out bed). The living room floor slopes a lot and took awhile to get used to.
It was nice to have a Keureg machine for coffee, but would have helped to have a few pods at check in (seems pretty standard now to give at least a fewâespecially since there are so many different machines out there and weâd have been likely to bring the wrong ones). Also we never could find the TV remote. We only watched one movie, but were stuck with French subtitles. (Fine unless you have someone hearing impaired who is hoping for English subtitles to read along and no means to change the settings)
Recommend also putting a rubbish bin in the ensuite bathroom.
But all in all was an Alaskan, rustic and cozy cabin getaway.
Thank you!!
If you are looking for an older, cute, and cozy cabin with all the quirks that come with an older cabin, this is the place for you! We had a great time in this cabin in both the indoor and outdoor space. It is very conveniently located to everything in the area. The beds were very comfortable and slept well. The only downside was that there weren't blinds on all the windows. So in June it wasn't super dark. However, there were plenty of blankets that we made our own black out curtains and slept great!
