Room was large and pleasant. The food was on the salty side but ok. Breakfast was understaffed but the staff present were lovely, just not enough to keep the buffet supplied well or clean the tables. Think the hotel a solid option for the area and reasonably priced.
The Tarbet hotel was our favorite stay of our 9 day trip to Scotland. The historic building on the shores of loch Lomond was peaceful and serene. The staff was great and even upgraded our room for free which was a real treat. The restaurant and drinks were good as well. The real show stopper is the view of the loch and the location.
We only stayed one night at the Tarbet hotel, it was a stopover for the journey from Skye. We found it perfect to be honest, its in a great setting opposite the loch, you can get the ferries across if you want to.
The room was a bit tired but it was quiet and clean. The bar area was really nice and the breakfast good. We found the staff lovely and helpful, would definitely recommend.
The location is next to the road and has a beautiful park.
It might have some traffic noise but it doesn't bother me. I stayed 218 with a lake view. The bed was not too comfy but ok. It was an old castle. Seems outdated (not new) but clean. Also, I'm not picky. They make the most amazing breakfast during my two-week trip to Scotland and England. It was affordable too.
Thanks to one of the staff members bringing me coffee at 5:00am when I sat in the lobby by myself. That was really nice and my trip was made better by someone kind.
Old hotel, basic rooms. On very busy T junction, so rooms at front very noisy. Avoid room 124
Friendly staff good meals. Nothing around hotel, except loch.
The hotel has an amazing location and the building looks stunning. Sadly, it’s quite run down. Rooms look alright, if you don’t look too closely, but in desperate need of an upgrade. Service in the restaurant was really disappointing.
I would think most people pick this hotel for it's superb location on the shore of Loch Lomond. It really is a beautiful spot. The hotel itself is a grand old stone building, although a little shabby and run down inside (it really deserves a re-furb). Still it's clean, and the staff are friendly. This is my second visit. The breakfast is excellent (when do you ever get freshly squeezed orange juice in Britain?!) and there is a dual charging point for electric vehicles in the car park.
In summary, I'd definitely recommend this place if you don't need five star luxury.
Our stay at Tarbet Hotel was comfortable, convenient, and the view from our room of the Loch and countryside was beautiful. Their breakfast was top notch, we would be happy to stay again!
Fantastic hotel perfectly site on the banks of Loch Lomond.
The staff were friendly and efficient.
Our room was well appointed and was extremely clean.
The food was excellent.
The Tarbet Hotel is a wonderful place to stay.
Amazing views, nestled in gorgeous countryside. Very convenient for cruises across Lomond. Massive bedroom with lakeside views, tasty breakfast & the staff went the extra mile to make out stay so enjoyable.
The staff were brilliant, the room was very nice and the bed comfortable however all through the night there was a constant rumbling noise like a running generator which kept my wife awake all night, i was wakened a few times throughout the night which ruined what was to be a relaxing night away. Such a shame because if not for that thevstay wouldve been perfect.
I love an older hotel for its architectural charm and this was it! Very friendly and hard working employees. Has an elevator. Good food at dinner. Since it’s older and a refurbishment I wasn’t surpised by some
musty smell in hallways (not room) or smallish shower
Directly opposite the Loch side and Bens.
Clean hotel with lovely seating areas, pool table, bar and restaurant. Staff were really friendly. Quite a lot of choice for breakfast. Just watch out for midgies outdoors!
