The most idyllic cosy weekend retreat. We absolutely loved our stay fully immersed in nature with just the sound of birds, rain and the crackling fire in our cosy shepherdâs hut for the weekend. Breakfast in bed was perfect thanks to the supplies Becca kindly left for us. Watching the sunset and moon rise against a sky full of stars each night was also very special. We will definitely be back! Thank you
We had a fantastic stay, and start to our honeymoon at the Shepherds Hut. Becca was a very helpful host, who ensured we had all we need whilst giving us our privacy. It is a wonderful place to completely switch off from external distractions, and the accommodation is beautifully simple and quaint. 5 â
This is our second stay here and it was wonderful - the setup is perfect, inside and outside with everything you need already there. The best thing for us is the setting - no one else around, surrounded by nature and plenty of stars (and the odd owl) at night. So peaceful - just the sound of crickets and the occasional donkey! Wonderful - thanks Becca for a another lovely stay!
We had the most amazing weekend break at The Hay Hut. Situated in a gorgeous location with an entire field to ourselves, we really could not have asked for more as we were seeking peace and quiet and the chance to disconnect. The Hut is cozy and has everything needed to be self sufficient during your stay. We enjoyed long walks in the surrounding countryside, pub lunches and fish and chips (the nearest beach is just 15 mins drive) around the fire pit whilst admiring the night sky.
Becca is a lovely host and had thoughtfully provided some provisions (bread, milk etc) to get us started.
All in all a highly recommended place to stay and we will definitely return.
Beautiful location to escape to! Stayed for 5 nights. Choice of walks locally without driving and plenty of others just a short distance away (30mins and less). Some lovely villages/towns to amble round and admire - which we then planned circular walks from (eg. Tenterden and Wye). While the temperature did drop a bit midweek and there were real downpours/strong winds on our 2nd day, we were so snug with the fire in the Hay Hut. /inbetween walking, we just enjoyed reading, relaxing and eating (including some treats we picked up from local farm vending machine). Meals were no issue with essentials all covered in the kitchenette and we had some lovely meals out (The Woolpack was one of our favourite choices)!
Becca was a wonderful host; the milk, bread and cereals awaiting were just right. Great communication before and during our stay, with handy suggestions re what to see and nearby eating options.
We'd love to revisit the Hay Hut and would definitely recommend,
Tranquility, relaxation and comfort. Our two night stay was just perfect! Firstly, Becca the host, was helpful and communicative. Everything we needed was there and the setting was beautiful. Walking distance to local village pub and Egg Vending Machine (the vending machine of our dreams!). We loved lying in the hammock, stargazing; eating outside with a lit fire-pit and enjoying the silence (and the odd Donkey/Owl call). Heartily recommended. Many thanks Becca!
Before our stay Becca kept us in the loop perfectly through the whole process and took all the pre-arroval anxiety out of the situation. One we got there the hut was a lot better than anticipated. Very comfortable bed, lovely deck to enjoy the sunset, and ample wood for a nice fire on the evening.
The local pub was also a delight. Wonderfully friendly locals, and a nice downhill walk back to site.
From booking to checking out, Becca was brilliant, friendly and informative. The Hay Hut was simply "WOW". Stunning location, beautifully laid out, just THE perfect get away. We did not miss a TV or WiFi, the birdsong, the views, hammock, fireplace and tranquility more than made up for it!! We shall return!! A piece of paradise on home soil.
We absolutely loved our stay at the hut.
We fell in love with the place once we got there. Being surrounded by nature and being able to disconnect from the busy city life was a true blessing. The hut was so cozy, fully equipped, beautifully designed and with a great space to enjoy the fire pit outside. What's more, the bed was really comfortable and the fireplace within the cabin just made the experience so unique.
We enjoyed the wildlife around us and the peacefulness of connecting to nature. The woods around are truly mesmerising.
Becca was an amazing host! She was really quick to respond to all our questions and left some treats for us to enjoy of our arrival ( from hot chocolate, to delicious jam, fresh milk and butter).
We couldn't recommend it more!!!
Myself and my partner had an amazing 2 nights in this tranquil retreat in beautiful surroundings. Perfect location for exploring and a relaxing weekend away. The hut is modern with all home comforts including nice shower, very comfortable and cosy bed (we need to find out the make of the mattress) and a well appointed kitchen with plenty if appliances to keep you going through the day. We took a small portable bbq which worked brilliantly on the first night when we arrived as we lit it with the fire pit. We sat out and watched the sun come down and the stars come out over the woodland. When it was time to go in the wood burner had warmed the hut ready for a very good night's sleep. Its great as their is not a sound around even though it really is not that far away from popular and busy places. We would definitely come back and explore the local area more as we went to hythe, rye and greatstone all places we know and like which is why we liked the location. Don't expect to be glued to your phones as mobile signal not great but you are in the woods so what would you expect. Thanks to becca who messaged throughout for being am excellent host . Even left some nice breakfast bits for us.
My partner and I took our new(ish) born and had a lovely time cosied in the perfect little cabin/enjoying watching birds of prey and generally soaking up the local nature from our own little world. Great location for trips to Dungeness, Rye and various even closer villages and beaches as recommended by the knowledgable owner in a perfect note about the area. Hut is really comfortable considering itâs so small and nicely equipped for cooking basics to enjoy on the deck, with fire pit on as necessary. Please do visit the recommended egg vending machine nearby - itâs all that and so much more!
Great little place to escape all the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Loved having the fire both inside and outside. It was a lovely cosy place to stay :)
Easy to book and good communication from Becca. Well equipped with all basic kitchen supplies. The only thing it lacked is any hooks so nowhere to hang jackets or toilet bag etc
Compact but comfortable. Good base to explore the area. Wildlife consisted of at least 2 green woodpeckers and a female kestrel taking refuge on power line near to shepherd's hut.
Five Bells is recommended for meal. Pett Level beach also.
The hut is such a nice place to stay! The views are great and itâs so peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed evenings having wine by the fire pit and would highly recommend.
A wonderful place to stay - very quiet and relaxing, but within walking distance to the village and a short drive to bigger towns and the sea. The hut has everything you need and is very pretty.
We had such an incredible time staying at The Hayfield. It was so easy to get to from London, but felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. We watched birds of prey swoop, read in the hammock, lit a fire to watch the sunset, walked around the beautiful local area, slept so well in the comfy bed and it felt luxurious to be able to have a shower and cook for ourselves in the beautiful hut, which is incredibly well equipped.
We will definitely be back - we were so sad to leave... thank you!
We stayed at this beautiful little place and cannot recommend it enough. We had been working pretty hard before this and felt quite burnt out, this place was such a tonic and we left feeling totally rejuvenated.
THE VIEWS & LOCATION
As you enter the driveway into a beautiful field you don't see the hut at first until you stroll down and discover that it has been positioned in such a way that ensures you have complete privacy, not overlooked by anyone (neighbouring houses are very far away anyhow) and it has uninterrupted views of a beautiful wood. You can take a short walk to discover a rope swing. The sunsets are really something else. We sat out late on both nights and lit a fire in outdoor pit, drank wine and watched the stars. During the day you can lounge about in a hammock or even watch the sky from bed.
ACCOMMODATION
Thoughtfully put together with lots of gorgeous personal touches that made it feel both luxurious and also very comfortable. Has all the things you need to make a simple dinner and breakfast and the bed is incredibly comfortable, we had two of the best nights' sleep in ages.
LOCAL AREA
We got some great local tips from Becca and went to The Five Bells pub for a fab meal and excellent wine. We managed to stumble across a carboot sale on our way to to Rye (highly recommended) and picked up some bargains. We also spent a good couple of hours exploring Godington House and Gardens which really are beautiful.
THE HOST
Becca is so lovely and very communicative. She couldn't have done any more for us. It was lovely to hear her passion for the local area. Thank you Becca.
We will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hay Hut!! The hut and surroundings are simply stunning. Everything you can possibly need is there and attention to detail is second to none. Breakfast cereals supplied, along with tea and coffee. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. Although secluded, pubs, shops, walks etc are nearby. It was perfect for rest and relaxation. Thank you and we will be back!
I had the most wonderful, restorative weekend in this stunning Shepardâs hut. So quick to get to from London, and you feel miles away from it all. Surrounded completely by nature and so much wildlife to spot. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. I also had a wonderful stroll along the beach on Sunday morning. I will definitely be back!
