We had a great stay. The cabin was very clean and has everything you need.Very quiet and peaceful. This was our third time staying at this location. So nice to getaway from the city. We'll be back next year. Also Cindy (owner) really nice and easy to get ahold of.
This is a great place. It's a great central location in the U.P., whether you kayak or not. It was great to have a washer and dryer as an option. Cindy is a wonderful host!
Great for pet owners. We did not have a pet with us. After two nights we finally killed the last of the eighteen flys in the cabin on our arrival???Full dusting, window cleaning and no flys would likely have more quests booking a second stay. The cabin could easily charge a higher rate if these basics were addressed.
We had the best time during our stay! Cabin is comfortable, has every kitchen amenity you could wish for, & the free access to kayaks was a huge plus for us! All of the mattresses were super comfortable. Cindy was a great host & Poe, her dog, was the sweetest! The location can't be beat! We enjoyed kayaking the Au Train River, Brownstone Inn for dinner, Bay Furnace for rock hunting, Capt Ron's Whitefish truck in Munising is a must & Au Train Grocery has the best pasties! We hope to return next year
I cannot say enough about Cindy and her properties. We have stayed a few times now and she always makes us feel at home! From the minute we got there the kids were outside exploring everything there was to see and do! The cabin was absolutely perfect for the 8 of us and we had so much fun checking out Au Train, Marquette, Munising, Christmas, and even went through Pictured Rocks National Park to Grand Maraise! I am already planning my next trips! Cindy is an incredible host and she made sure we had everything we needed, my kids especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren during our stay! None of us wanted to leave at the end of the week. We love Au Train and all of the wonderful friends we made there!
Was a great location. Close to the river with an abundance of canoe & kayaks to choose from. Beds were very comfortable. We were left a message that said that she was moving in next door and to excuse the garage mess. The lady next door (who is the caretaker of the property) greeted us nicely and when we asked if she could chain -up her dog when we were out with ours on a leash said she would. The place is dark even with more than enough overhead lighting. We always travel with flashlights and we were glad we did. You will need them. The trash was already piled up in the can and when we left was now overflowing. The biggest problem was that the turnaround area is scattered with nails that will either puncture your tires or skin. This is total disregard for the people staying here. PLEASE take care of this soon. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.
Cozy and very clean place, perfectly well located close to everything, Cindy was very kind and was always in communication with us for what we needed, we hope to return soon!
The House was nice. However, after about 12 inches of snow the driveway was not plowed until we asked. The owner was nice but, not having a plowed driveway made it difficult to pull in or out with trucks and trailers.
More upgrades than advertised. Plenty of room. Parking tight for a full size truck and 4 sled trailer, overflow parking available but not aware until after we were settled. Cabin marking gone from the main sign so difficult to find at first but easy to get to after we knew where we were going. If snowmobiling you have to ride the road to get to the trail system. Host attentive and accommodating.
We had a nice stay! :)
Pros:
Very comfortable beds!
Bathrooms & Kitchen Clean
Good internet & TV
Fairly Quiet
Beautiful River Front View
No bad odors
Nice open layout for visiting
Cons:
Cat litter pan
It was a great use of space. We split the place between 2 families and there was plenty of room. Quick and friendly response with owner. Had everything we needed and more!
Very clean, was happy to find a king size bed rather than a full as stated in the listing. Kitchen was well stocked. Number of beds great for families or groups with kids. Thank you for being dog friendly.
Gave four for cleanliness due to the unfinished drywall patch in the bathroom where the door was moved, apparently over a year ago based on other's reviews. The newly installed barn door slides open about four inches after being 'closed'... luckily it faces the hallway, not the living room.
House faces east and we found it to be quite dark inside in the afternoon and evening.
Listing photos could be updated to show current condition of fire pit area (no Adirondack chairs, picnic table ten feet away instead), dining area (kitchen chairs replaced by banquet chairs), living room (different sectional, recliner added, no floor lamp), and bathroom (see above).
All in all, stay was just ok, not as nice as we expected based on listing photos.
We had a short two night stay at this property, and loved it! The house is located near several other rental cabins, and despite the fact that most were occupied at the time, the whole area was super quiet. We didn't stay long enough to enjoy the riverfront access, but it would definitely be an added bonus for those looking to kayak/canoe in the area. The house is spacious and comfy--it truly felt like a home instead of a rental. The living room furniture and beds are super comfy. The kitchen had everything you could need and more. We didn't have phone service in the area, but the home's Wifi was fast and efficient. The home serves as a fantastic base for travel to the cute nearby town of Munising (highly recommend the Pictured Rocks Cruise, by the way) and Au Train Beach is literally less than five minutes away. The host was super responsive and kind, and extremely helpful. If you are looking to get away from it all in the UP, this is the place to book!
We had a fantastic time! This property is beautiful and comfortable. We had our kids, grandkids and a friend with us this year. The memories we made will last a lifetime!
We really liked the location, sitting on the porch watching the river. One of the best stocked places we have stayed, had everything we needed!!! Wish we could have stayed longer. Cindy was great to work with. Will definitely come back!!!
