The listing description is mostly accurate but it left out two very important items when staying in Avignon in the July heat. First- there is no air conditioning. It was 100 degrees during our stay and the bedrooms are in the attic and the apartment is on the second floor. It was so incredibly hot in the evening, it was difficult to sleep. We couldn’t drink enough water to keep ourselves hydrated.
Second- we reserved this unit because it stated there was a washing machine. Upon arrival, the washing machine was broken. The host did not communicate that to us in advance so when we opened it up, the apartment was flooded with water. We needed a washing machine as we were halfway through our 2 week vacation and packed anticipating to wash our clothes in Avignon. When I messaged the host, she confirmed that it was broken and told us to use the laundromat nearby which cost us an additional 30 euros. Additionally, the washers ruined 3 of our dresses, multiple tops, 2 skirts and bras & underwear totaling $400 to replace. The washer turned the clothes permanently gray and tore the underwear and bras apart. This was incredibly disappointing. No discount or refund was offered.
If you want to stay in the city center, and don’t mind sweating 24/7, and don’t need to wash clothes, this is a decent place to stay. Just beware there are many steps to the second floor in a dark winding staircase.
