Welcome to Fern Haus, a whimsical A-frame cabin and garden tucked between evergreens and ferns in Baring, WA. Whether you're seeking a romantic mountain escape, a cozy family getaway, or an outdoor adventure basecamp, this fairytale retreat offers the quintessential Pacific Northwest experience.

Property & Privacy Details

Fern Haus shares an outdoor breezeway with our guest cottage (Ember Cottage), but there are no shared walls. Fern Haus features its own fully private yard, deck, hot tub, and picture-perfect garden for taking in the mountain views and fresh river air.

Private Amenities (Fern Haus Only)

* Private Hot Tub: Large enough for the whole crew
* Private Deck: Main dining table + separate kid table to take in the mountain views
* Grill: Blackstone flat-top propane grill
* Fireplace: Outdoor wood fireplace (please check local burn bans prior to use)
* Seating & Atmosphere: Comfortable Adirondack chairs, a relaxing hammock, and a lush garden setting

Shared Amenities (with Ember Cottage)

* Pickleball court
* Parking: Additional parking area by the large garage
* Entry: Covered entryway breezeway
* Trash & Recycling: A-frame shed for waste disposal

-Self check-in is available using a Schlage smart lock.

-Exterior Ring security cameras monitor the outside of the property for guest safety.

-Fern Haus is located on the same property as another vacation rental, but each has its own entrance, patio, hot tub, and designated
parking for privacy.

-The community observes quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Please be respectful of neighbors and no parties are permitted.

-Community river access is just a 3-minute walk from the cottage.

-During winter weather, AWD/4WD or chains may occasionally be needed.

-Trash should be placed in the designated A-frame shed and kept securely covered, as wildlife is common in the area.

-Mini Pickleball Court
Enjoy our mini pickleball court! Please note that the court is shorter than a standard regulation-size court and is designed for casual play and fun.
We provide 4 paddles and 4 pickleballs in each cabin. The court is a shared, first-come, first-served amenity, so please be mindful of guests staying in the other unit.
Court hours: 10:00 AM–9:00 PM. Please keep noise to a reasonable level while playing.
  • 9 minutes by car from Skykomish River and 11 minutes from Lake Serene Trailhead
