Nice location about 15/20 mins drive to Skipton which is really nice
If you want to eat at the hotel in the evening best to book a table - food was nice and breakfast had enough choice - cereal, toast, fried egg, bacon, sausage, beans and tomatoes (not sure if you could ask for scambled/poached?) you get just one cup of tea or coffee then you have to pay for any more (however there are tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom)
Rooms were clean and lovely to have a bath as well as a shower - beds very comfy
The staff were friendly and the young man behind the bar was lovely and polite
Overall a lovely stay
Room was nice
Downside shower was cold and completely stopped mid shower
Breakfast self-service was ok
Ate in the restaurant in the evening disappointed with food looked like school dinner at premium price
Skewer of chicken dry again premium price
For me food let this place down
Canât really complain for price of room but definitely ripped off with the food
Stopped here many times ⊠lovely walking area ⊠staff are amazing⊠the bar area is inviting and when cold a roaring fire ⊠lovely listening to the Piano being played in the evening
Made a late booking to attend an appointment and decided to tie it in with a visit to friends in our old neighbourhood. The Old Stone Trough offered a very reasonable rate in the right area. Not disappointed.
Reception was very good.
Room dated , had shower and water dripped all night after that, bed very soft.
At breakfast booked in for a time , but was still far to busy. 1/2 hour slot stood 10mins to wait for toast only had toaster between all...ordered tea at beginning never came , had to ask again, cereal option very poor.
Sorry for poor review but just being honest !!!
I booked this just as a quick 1 night get away. I knew it was cheap but was hoping for cheap and cheerful. As we walked in to the room there was a dirty tissue on the floor which was a sign. The actual room itself was fine, you could hear every cough from the room next door but the condition was fine. The thing that really let this place down was the food. I would thoroughly recommend eating elsewhere on the evening and skipping the breakfast. The breakfast has to be the poorest experience I've had at a hotel. The night was a surprise for my husband and it was a massive let down.
We have stayed many times. The room was good, my only negative would be the low water pressure of the shower, but apart from that we had a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and vety helpful. Will definately stay again.
