We just love these cottages and the community. It is absolutely beautiful in the summer and winter. Everything is clean and this cottage had all the kitchen utensils and equipment needed. The only think is the upstairs area gets quite warm to due to fireplace having to be on. Maybe install another ceiling fan in the bedroom? We just loved our stay and can't wait to visit again.
What a nice surprise! From the outside, the Sumac Chalet looked like a quaint little cabin tucked in the woods. But once inside the mix of finishes and furnishings were fun and inviting. There was even a SleepNumber bed just like at home and set it to 65 for a good night's sleep.
First thing we did was hike the trail behind the cabin. Easy stroll through the forest ending at the shore at Roy's Marina. Other adventures included a ferry ride to Madeline Island to browse the galleries, eat pizza, and hike to the sea caves. We also took the boat cruise through the Apostle Islands for breathtaking views. Lastly, we even won a few bucks at the casino up the street!
Overall, our trip was both relaxing and adventurous and the location of the cabin enabled that to happen.
Beautiful porch and walking trails to Roy Bay Marina on Superior. Kitchen and bathroom equipped with what was needed. Quiet, beautiful and peaceful. I slept in the downstairs bedroom. This mattress was not supportive. Time to get a new mattress. All of the furniture in the Sumac Chalet was very uncomfortable. There literally was not one stick of comfortable furniture in this place. There could have at least been one or two pieces of comfortable furniture to sit on. For this reason I will not stay in this particular rental by Wind seeker and pay that kind of money again. They were accommodating when I asked to extend the check out time by two hours. Grateful for that.
It was a very nice cabin and we enjoyed our stay. The bedroom was freezing and its because the thermostat was hidden behind the dresser and turned off. I think windseeker should know that if the temperature during our stay is going to be below freezing they should turn on all of the heat sources. The only table provided was out on the porch, we did not use the porch very much because there was no heat out there. There is a terrible chair in the living room. It is a super awkward reclining, hard, and uncomfortable chair. It was also super modern and did not fit the cabin at all. They should just put in a recliner and that would be much more beneficial and enjoyable.
Beautiful home in a central location for the area activities! Kitchen was wonderful for evening meals. Prepared some wonderful fish fillets on the grill from Koops/Bayfield. Kayaked with Lost Creek for a fun afternoon! Lots of scenic hikes in the area ( Lakeshore Trail , Lost Creek Falls, Houghton ) including the nice trail to the shore from the cabin.
Loved the screened on porch and the bikes ( with helmets) to use.
The fireplace didnât work which was disappointing. The furniture was bad. Not enough seating for 4 people in living room. No dining table and chairs in unit only on porch.
The bathroomâs upstairs and down were very nice with wonderful showers, and very nice towels.
Any requests we had were answered immediately.
Furniture needs updating for the price but we enjoyed our stay. Very nice management
The Sumac Chalet is a delightful property. The location to Bayfield is convenient -- just a short drive away where you can find restaurants, shopping and also the details and tickets to the Apostle Islands cruise. Our total experience was awesome.
Loved the property. Itâs comfortable, well maintained, fragrance free, and laid out well for visiting, preparing food, eating and relaxing. The attached porch is wonderful and helps bring the outside in and offers so much extra space.
The Sumac Chalet was even better than we thought it would be. We came to Bayfield in mid-November and encountered a little more snow than is usual, but it was the perfect excuse to snuggle by the fireplace and watch movies and enjoy long conversations.
The communication with Windseeker was excellent and they always responded within a short period of time. We would come back here again without hesitation!
This property was one of our all time favorites. The location was wonderful, the architecture fit the place, the screened in porch was incredible, and the adjacent walking trails were a wonderful reflection of the care taken to make the experience perfect. It was a rainy weekend so we spent a lot of time drinking wine and napping - not feeling like we missed a thing happening outside the cabin. The only negative was the condensation from the toilet cause the bathroom floor to get a little slippery. The only other comment; wear the robes!!
