This is a beautiful, large house, charmingly decorated. The kitchen is huge and well appointed, and the rooms are large However, the house has some major flaws. In both bedrooms, there were no light switches near the doors, so if you walked into them in the dark, you needed to grope around before you found some light. When we arrived on Saturday, the toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom was broken -- it was not fixed until Monday. Many of the electrical outlets did not work. We never figured out how to turn on some of the lights. Many of the light switches appeared to do nothing. Lots of maintenance is needed, as well as a guide to operating the lighting and the ceiling fans.

Great stay

This lovely home was updated, clean and comfortable, and nicely outfitted with kitchen and bath supplies. The location was terrific for access to hikes and Jacob’s Pillow. The hosts couldnt have been more thoughtful and responsive. Highly recommended!

Few hiccups, but mostly good

Pristine can mean several different things. My interpretation was to be “like new”. This dwelling did not quite live up to that standard, but was clean, sans the “mud room” and what appeared to be mold on the peak of the ceiling above the living room. The original listing stated firewood was provided by the host. Then, the checkin instructions stated guests provided their own. Not huge, just misstated in the listing (since changed). There was a power outage while we were there, thus no water. The kitchen was reasonably equipped. The ice maker was defunct, so bring in your own. Otherwise, it was a pretty decent stay. It’s a large post and beam house showing some wear, but overall comfortable. The ability to keep the car in the garage was nice for unpacking and repacking. It was nice to have a gas stove in the kitchen, especially when the power was out (boiled water for coffee). The woodstove fireplace was awesome. No coffee filters, so bring your own. Nice supply of linens. Comfortable bedding. It was a drive to any activities or to grocery shop, but a beautiful one. The house itself had no ‘view’, but was surrounded by trees and was quiet and peaceful.

First rate place to stay especially during fall. Isolated but can drive to Sturbridge, Shaker Village, Holyoke. The owners have thought of everything to be comfortable.

Beautiful Home and Location

I really loved my stay at this beautiful property surrounded by nature and peacefulness in the Berkshire mountains. The owners were great too with communication and making things easy for check in and check out. Highly recommend this place!

Mountain Top Getaway

My wife and young daughters live in central CT, and the drive to Becket was both scenic and relatively short at around an hour and a half. The property offers great privacy in a remote wooded setting in the heart of the always beautiful Berkshires. We brought our dog along, and we all were able to relax by the fire, read our favorite books, as well as peruse interesting titles on the impressive bookshelf built into the living room wall—a book lover’s delight. We admired the openness and light provided by vaulted ceilings and the beauty of the exposed beams. Great cabin-like feel with the amenities of a fully complimented home. While the ad is listed accurately, one thing to note for guests is the lack of access to a washer/dryer. Be sure to bring enough clothes and towels to the last the week. The kitchen is wonderful and will suit any foodie’s needs. Overall terrific stay, and we’ll be back!

Exactly What We Were Looking For

We had a truly excellent stay here. The house was very clean and you can tell the owners take pride in the upkeep and maintenance of the property. The exposed timber framing was one of my favorite things about house. Overall, we found the place to be exactly as advertised and we had a wonderful little getaway with our friends.

Beautiful get away

This property was exactly as described. Complete Private home with plenty of room to spread out. Lovely yard area and wonderfully appointed kitchen. Loved the garage access for loading and unloading our luggage. It was one of the best experiences we have EVER. And CLEAN!!

A place to connect with family

We needed a place to stay that would allow my husband and I to visit with our children and grandchildren. This was the perfect location for us. We loved the beautiful, secluded yard and sitting with our family outside using the Adirondack chairs. The kitchen was well appointed allowing us to cook several family meals. We spent evenings playing games on the dining room table or using the corn hole games that were at the house. Given we live in Texas and our children live in Massachusetts and New York City this was a great find. Although most of the week was rainy during our stay we did find our way to Stockbridge and had dinner at Papa Bobs. We also enjoyed watching movies on the tv with our Disney account we were able to plug in. Everything met our expectations!

Quiet Escape

The house was well equipped, very clean, and was very comfortable. The location was quiet, private, and offered hiking right from the doorstep. Easy access to all the Berkshires has to offer.
