This is the MOST incredible hotel I have ever stayed at. I was in awe around every corner was something new and beautiful to see. Location is amazing, food spectacular, people were wonderful. If I could give this 10 stars I would.

An absolutely beautiful, luxurious, all-things-thought-of experience. Gorgeous and comfortable, and relatively affordable. HOWEVER, the recommended parking is a ten minute walk away, with wheeled suitcases hauled over cobblestones in the driving rain. So be sure to drop off your bags first before parking, although this and pick up can be made difficult now that the city has clamped down on cars in that area. AND, be sure to ask if your room will be situated above a party or club lasting until 4am. I did not sleep a wink, though everything was otherwise superb.

This was one of the most charming hotels I have stayed at. Adorable French decor throughout and music piped into your room that you can turn off if desired. We had a "Petite Chambre" and I was honestly a little concerned it would be too small for my husband and I, as it was sadly misrepresented by the pictures posted online. It was just right for the 2 of us. The espresso/cappaccino machine was self-serve and available at any time and the food at breakfast was magnificent. The staff was helpful and attentive for any need/request. The location is perfect for walkability to everything and on a super-cute street. the only thing is, if you are particularly sensitive to noise, there are restaurant on the same street and it wasn't whisper quiet by any means. But not bad. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

More of a restaurant than a hotel

This hotel prioritizes decor over practicality. There is no lobby -- you enter through a retaurant and to get to the rooms have to pass through the area where waitstaff pick up dishes from the kitchen, which we found awkward. Many small issues (no wastebasket in main room, electric shades didn't work, door didnt lock unless we jiggled the inside bolt first, breakfast portions were tiny), none of which were awful but they added up. Overdecorated with bric-a-brac everywhere. That said -- staff was very nice, and location was very convenient to the main sights.

Charming & Quaint I really was not sure about this untraditional choice for our three days in Bergen, Norway... This is a French Restaurant Hotel which is sprawling between several connected buildings. The colorful decor vibtrates and the check-in front desk has a very helpful multilingual staff. In our room, there was French music playing, but no television. The daily breakfast was delightfully delicious... and there is even a 24 hour cappuccino/espresso/hot-chocolate machine that hit the spot, several times a day. This stay was an unconventional hotel choice, but a memoral decision that we hope to make again. Wonderful

Wow, what a place. We had seen the photos online, but staying at the Charmante was a real experience and pleasure. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a welcome drink in their bar area at check-in and the details throughout the hotel and room were so well considered and with such a sense of fun. Thank you so much to the whole team for providing a truly memorable experience for our stay in Bergen. P.S. As others have said, the ‘amazing breakfast’ really is!

This hotel looked a bit funky to me in the photos but my wife insisted we try it (so we did). I am so glad I listened to her. This hotel is unique, charming and fun. It felt like going back to the Belle Epoque with its lavish and fine decor/details. It was fun just hanging out in and exploring the hotel- don’t miss the atmospheric “secret” speakeasy upstairs! We had a very fine dinner in their main restaurant and included breakfasts were also excellent. The staff were extremely professional and accommodating. The hotel is perfectly situated in central Bergen within walking distance of everything. Highly recommend!
