The house was located in an area where other home owners had quite a bit of garbage in their lawns. The road leading to the house was in disrepair. The house behind the rental property and beside the rental property were in disrepair. The house itself on the outside was very well maintained. The interior of the house was lacking basic furniture. There was only a couch in the living area. No chairs and only 1 light with a tripping hazard of an open electrical outlet on the floor. The main bedroom only had 1 nightstand and light. The bathroom was updated but no heat and the floor by the shower was torn up. There were multiple marks on the walls from animals and a few broken and/or missing pictures. For the amount we paid, I expected the same experience we have had before with vrbo with other cabins in Berkeley Springs, WV.It was not the same experience and it was extremely overpriced.I was very disappointed. Upon check in the hood for the stove was sitting on top of the stove making the stove inoperable. There was also a note that said the wood stove wasnât working but the cabin was warm with the baseboard heat off and the wood stove was warm to touch. Contacted the host immediately, a little back a forth on the issue and around 11 pm was told the handyman would arrive the following day around 11am-12 pm. Next day comes, itâs after 12pm. No arrival of hHandyman. Contacted host again, response was thank you for letting me know. We left cabin to get lunch as we were unable to book the food we brought. Returned and around 4 pm the handyman comes. Puts the hood up with a piece of wood were brought from home and said if the wood stove was broken they wouldâve contacted him to fix it immediately. Okayed us to use wood stove, thank goodness as the low that night was in the low 20s. Filed report with Vrbo and requested compensation for not being able to use the stove until the night before checkout and never received a response. Highly disappointed as this was supposed to be a relaxing getaway for my husbands 30 th birthday.
Nothing but good things here! Out in the woods but close to everything Berkeley Springs has to offer ! Cozy beds comfortable and set up perfectly we enjoyed and highly recommend for a girls weekend my one suggestion would be a larger sofa in the living area thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful property!!
We had a great stay except for not being able to get to the cabin because the road was closed and thedetour was also closed. We contacted the gost bit he gave us the same directions over and over sfain. We finally kist
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and the highlights were using the hot tub and fire pit. The king sized bed was comfortable and the cabin seemed to be clean and in decent shape, if a little worn.
The town is quickly accessible but also this means youâll have some town (and construction) light and noise even though the property itself is pretty private. There was another house in close proximity but it didnât appear in use and a new fence has been installed to block it from view.
The Roku tvs were nice however the living room itself isnât that comfortable (one small couch and a chair with no extra blankets). The bathroom is ok but the shower is quite small and we had to duck to fit under the shower head (Iâm 5â8â and my husband is 6â). A few more towel hooks would have been helpful.
Tony and the team were very responsive during our stay but we did have to request the handyman come out because the only 2 chairs around the fire pit were broken, the inside wood stove flue was stuck, and the switch to turn off the lights above the hot tub was inaccessible.
Overall we had a nice time during our stay.
We enjoyed our brief time in this clean and nicely styled cabin, and would have liked to stay on. We savored the peace and quiet, the fire pit, and the deer wandering by at twilight.
Would definitely stay here again and then maybe try the hot tub. It looked inviting.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dark Hollow Ct!
Nice living area, wood stove, good wifi service and streaming TV service in living room and bedrooms. Kitchen has everything you need, including pots/pans, toaster oven, coffee maker and microwave. Bathroom is large, with tub and shower, although could use some more towel hooks, or bars to hang up extra towels, after enjoying the outdoor hot tub. Plenty of privacy around the lot, with fencing completely blocking the only neighbor within view. A lot to see in nearby Berkely Springs, including a the Springs themselves, lots of variety of restaurants, and even an Antique Mall right next to the State Park on main streen. Also highly recommend the Frog Valley Artisans, a short drive away. Catoctin State Park is also a lovely spot full of hiking/biking trails. The ranger at the Nature Center was very helpful in choosing which trails suited us best.
Only note I would make is that if ANY weather is expected (rain, snow or ice) be prepared with a 4WD vehicle. Not that you couldn't walk the short distance up the gravel and dirt road, but I is a climb.
Lovely! Superior Cleanliness! Tony keeps in touch once booked and threw out the stay! Never have to worry! Complete peace of mind! A little piece of heaven in the mountains! You donât want to leave but when you do your planning another visit!!!!
We enjoyed our 2-night stay at the cabin. It was clean, cozy, and very secluded. We made use of the propane grill on the front porch and had dinner in the rocking chairs one night, made s'mores in the fire pit another night, and took a couple dips in the hot tub. There were basic cooking pots/pans, grill tools at the cabin. The location was only 5 to 10 minutes from Berkeley Springs so it was easy to pop into town to see the Roman Bath or visit a restaurant. Food Lion wasn't too far either and had a good selection for cooking dinner. The host was very accessible and helpful, checked in on us a couple of times. We would stay here again.
Some heads ups: 1) The main road to the cabin (Sugar Hollow Road) is cut off in both directions from construction. For now, you'll need to take Johnsons Mill Road as a detour. 2) The driveway is steep and not really gravel. More a shale rock that has broken apart into chunks. We had to raise our suspension after we bottomed out the first time up. The neighbor had a Kia Soul and was able to make it up. 3) The ceilings are a little low, like around 6' 4", for anyone tall.
Hiking, biking, exploring all day. Hot tub all night. Proposed in the hot tub the last evening of our stay. Was amazing will definitely stay with this host again.
We loved staying at this cabin. It was secluded with great outside amenities. We loved sitting on the porch, using the fire pit and hot tub! The interior was very nice and updated. Tony stayed in touch with us throughout our stay making sure everything was okay. We were minutes away from the cute town with lots to do. We enjoyed the State Parks too! I would highly recommend staying here. Itâs the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.
