Fantastic hosts and a great breakfast close proximity to Spittal beach and just a short stroll over the bridge to Berwick

Very friendly hotel

Cons: A non slip mat in the bath Meals served every evening
Location: Easy to explore Northumbria from this base and to make a quick trip to Scotland
We were delighted with the hotel, the owners who were very kind and our room which was very comfortable and cosy.

Reasonably priced comfort.

My cousin and I stayed for 1 night in order to attend an exhibition at the Granary art gallery. It was a rather long walk from the railway station to the hotel but once we got our bearings we realised that it is reasonably close to town although on the opposite side of the river from shops, restaurants etc. The walk from the hotel to town over the old bridge provided lovely views of the old buildings with pan tile roofs. The hotel seems more like a b&b than a hotel although they do have a bar and provide dinner for guests if required. The room was spotless and comfortable with added extras such as toiletries. It was very quiet and we had a good night"s sleep. There is a smoking terrace outside the window of room 2 but thankfully no-one used it when we were there. My cousin had a cooked breakfast which she said was good quality, piping hot and tasty. Being vegetarian I had cereal, fruit, yoghurt and toast. I could have had poached, fried or scrambled egg but didn't want egg that day. The dining room looks out on a small well tended garden. Staff were friendly and helpful. We paid £35 each which was extremely good value for money. I would stay again if in Berwick upon Tweed.

We only stayed at the rob Roy for one night en route to Scotland , the staff were very friendly and helpful. the rooms were very clean and tidy, and the beds comfy. the breakfast was very good. we would stay here again and recommend it to our friends.
