As a previous review mentioned about a month before our stay, the air conditioning upstairs was not working. The host did not address the AC problem when it was first brought to her attention by another renter, and a month later when we arrived it was still not working. The temperature upstairs was over 80 degrees when we went to bed. The host had the AC repaired the next morning, but our first night was so miserable (which could have been easily avoided if she had addressed the problem when it was brought to her attention) we didnât want to stay the second night. The host initially agreed to a refund of the second night if we didnât want to stay the second night. We checked out, and did not stay the second night. The host quit responding, and has not issued the refund she said she would give us. The property has some safety and maintenance issues. The windows upstairs are painted and/or nailed shut. The yard is overgrown with weeds discarded junk and debris. As other reviews mentioned, the listing doesnât mention this is a multi unit home, and the host does not notify you until she sends her check in information.
This home is too beautiful to have been converted into a duplex. The neighborhood is just as beautiful, as well as safe, and not far from the metro and grocery store. Although we truly enjoyed our stay, something needs to be done about the very little air flow from the A/C vents upstairs.
This listing is actually a duplex, which creates some architectural oddities, and during our 3-night stay led to a few late-night (brief) noise issues. We needed A/C the whole time -- worked great on the ground floor, much less well for the bedrooms upstairs. Odd that US mail arrived through the mail slot each day...Some very recent renovations led to parts of the house that were state of the art (ensuite master bathroom, door key/code for master bedroom -- make sure to get it from the owner!), but other parts of the house needed care (garden/vines unattended, handrail slightly loose at the top).
We loved the location which had easy access to a trail, we had deer visiting every morning in the front yard, and lots of room for all of us to spread out! The smallest room is the kitchen but we werenât there to cook. The house had easy access to downtown DC and most importantly the zoo! The towels and linens were clean and aupee soft! We would definitely stay there again! Owner response to any problem was quick and polite!
This house is in a phenomenal location, has some lovely architectural features, and a very responsive host. Some things were good and others not so much. It should be noted the house is divided up with another property, which means thin walls and one bedroom above the other unit. This was not made clear in the description. Those guests played rap music late at night, but eventually turned it down - the host was very apologetic and responsive to address this. Unfortunately, these guests also came in and out after midnight, argued loudly - things the host couldn't control but people should be aware of the shared house. Beds were very comfortable, but the sheets were thin and didn't stay on the beds. Modern bathrooms, but only one towel per person and no washcloths. The kitchen is well stocked, but so tiny it was difficult for two people to be in it. A big yard with a pavilion to hang out in, but someone had left several bags of trash which animals scavenged. Again, host was so apologetic and sent someone to clean it the next day. Overall, so much potential, but felt like a swing and a miss. Hopefully the host will be able to up their game and make this a great property for folks.
House was in a great location. There were just a few things that we were was disappointed in. We thought that it was a whole house but when we got there it was a duplex and we couldn't park on other side of driveway. The kitchen was so tiny that two people cant fit in it. A lot of the outlets weren't working to charge phones, and just would suggest maybe a dresser or suitcase stand in bedrooms so we don't have to put luggage on floor. Overall it fit our needs because we weren't in it much. Just some suggestions if anyone has to stay long term, but host was easy to get ahold of and responded very quickly to any questions I had.
What a lovely home! We enjoyed everything about our stay. It was close enough to DC to get there easily, but far enough away to escape the crowds and traffic. The house was clean and well-kept, and the kitchen was stocked with many helpful items. We loved having a yard and a driveway with designated parking. Everything went smoothly, and we highly recommend this home.
Came out to DC from the Midwest to celebrate a special occasion for our daughter. This place was a nice seclusion from all the traffic and city noise. Our grandson had a great time playing outside and at the park nearby...no worries about his safety. We were able to relax with family after a busy couple days in the city. Would stay here again.
We stayed a short time, but my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the property.
Will definitely stay again. Thank you so much for the accommodations provided.
