Disgusting - not as advertised in the photos in the Hotels.com website
The website for The Jersey Arms Hotel shows it as part of the Cameron Hotel Collection - itâs clearly not but is using the same photos - Iâm not sure if the Cameron Hotel Collection are awareâŠ.
The woodwork around the bedroom windows was rotten, some door windows had been replaced with wood, there was mould in several places in the bathroom, the shower fitments were rusty - there was one wall light and one table lamp to light up the whole room, no wardrobe - no bar, even though thereâs a photo of one on the website -
the only truthful detail about the hotel was that it was a continental breakfast !
Nobody around when we arrived, just keys left on the desk empathising single women staying alone. Room door wouldn't lock, ceiling dangling down over the bed, in desperate need of a thorough clean, bannister barely hanging onto the wall. Totally unsafe & unclean. It was so late at night & nobody to speak to, we decided to leave and find somewhere safe for the night. Owner refused to refund. Avoid at all costs.
Booked for business trip, no one on reception on arrival or departure. No resturant or bar service available have to travel to Bicester for food. Continental breakfast in morning no staff. No heating in room or restaurant and no staff to communicate any issues with. Room was lovely though mattress needs replacing as springs have gone in it. Shower leaked and made horrendous noise. All windows had condensation in morning and blinds didnât work. Have to leave shower window open for steam to clear as no fan. Poor overall wouldnât recommend
Rooms were freezing cold, windows donât shut properly, mould in bathroom, toilet all stained! Disgusting, grounds had bin bags with rubbish in, which have clearly sat there for days! Pizza boxes all over the gardens, breakfast was really poor! No bar to sit in in the evening, yet it shows one on the pictures! Apparently itâs been shut for a long time! Would definitely pay a bit extra and stay somewhere warm and more inviting plus clean.
The hotel rooms are nothing like the images on line. We stayed 1 night which was enough we would have found somewhere else but it was late when we arrived. The reception area was not appealing and gave an awful 1st impression. Got our key and went to our room, the decor was shocking plaster coming off the walls, window was open wouldn't shut properly, stains on carpets and lights on walls glass not fitted properly in frame. our room door lock missing and had to use chain. Bed was ok was clean and towels in bathroom clean but didn;t use bath or shower as water pressure not good only dribbled out of shower head and tap. Very musty smell in room. Room information booklet was totally incorrect as they was no food or bar and in the booklet it stated there was. very misleading. Continental breakfast was average.
Nice place with character. Location was ideal for us. Only gripes was the room was very cold and breakfast had limited choice. Upon booking in the room was warm but from that point and the next two days, the heating did not switch on leaving the bathroom damp and cold along with bedroom being very cold. I did mention the lack of heating but as the heating was ok in the hotel, front of house did not take on board my concernes.
Power failed and could not be restored. No hot water on one morning. Quite a lot of noise from other rooms. Limited breakfast each morning.
Staff were nice. Room was fairly inexpensive. The actual room was fine, but no cleaning or fresh towels during the stay and single towel just got damper and more cold each morning
Awful. Did not stay and asked for our money back.
Room stank of damp, mouldy walls and pillow! Dangerous plug sockets.
Hotel even tried to dispute my claims!!! Not happy!
Hotel could be lovely but is in a state of disrepair.
The hotel is in a closed down pub, no food or drink. Very dated decor and not the cleanest, stayed for 4 nights and no room made up or cleqn towels etc, had to go and ask for loo roll. Nothing in the immediate area unless you drive. In fairness i do believe it might have just been taken over they need time to turn it around
This is a budget hotel, so the saying you get what you pay for fits. The staff are very nice and accommodating - our tv didnât work so the staff let us use the empty room next door. The property was lovely but now it is becoming tired and needs money spending on it. We paid ÂŁ60 for a night which was the correct value for the room. Breakfast is basic.
I did not like the fact they tried to get customers to pay ÂŁ20 for a dog. Most places are around ÂŁ10, so ÂŁ20 is a third of the total price, felt a little greedy.
If you are on a budget, it is worth staying here.
