The cabin is gorgeous and it is right next to mountain hiking trails and easy sledding areas. However, the only parking available during the winter is at the bottom of 65+ stairs. Even though it had not snowed in 10 days before our stay, the steep driveway was covered in snow and ice and half of the stairs leading up the cabin were covered in snow and ice. This made unpacking our cars incredibly difficult and somewhat perilous.
We immediately notified the property management company that we needed snow cleared. The response was that the snow clearing vendor said they did all they could at the property and our ticket was closed. This left us to spend almost five hours clearing snow and ice on our vacation because...
With the driveway unusable, we had to park two cars in the concrete bay at the bottom off the stairs vertically and the third car parked horizontally behind. On our second day, one of us had to go to town for some supplies. Upon coming back to the property, he tried to park at the bottom of the driveway since the management company had said that should be usable. The car slipped back on the ice almost hitting the horizontal car. All the cars were then pinned in and could only move a couple inches either way. All the adults had to spend more than two hours shoveling snow, moving the cars inches at a time to free them with no damage. Children were left to watch tv on our snow vacay.
It was really stressful - and took away from the enjoyment of the cabin
