Charming village location (particularly on a sunny day). Breakfast is very good and good value. Walkable distance to the nearest pub/restaurant. Low ceilings and smallish doors may prove a challenge in some rooms if you have mobility issues. I didnât notice any aircraft noise (itâs close to stanstead airport).
This is a charming cottage style property. It is in a beautiful village setting (particularly on a sunny day). The ceilings are low and some of the doors are small so some of the rooms may not be ideal if you have mobility issues.
Overall the stay was perfect, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, the place as a whole is beautiful and warming, the food was great aswell, all in all i recommend anyone to stay here
The property was covenient for airport location and quiet. parking required a bit of manoeuvring around the parking spaces - a bit hands off in terms of check out ( lock the door and drop key through letter box) - room bedding quality good
Lovely reception, arrived early by arrangement to get keys as going to concert. Shown to lovely room. After concert had great night and slept well. Perfect stay. Thank you. Will come again
Great stay although bathroom shower needs improved
The stay overall was very pleasant. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom was a slight downside however as it had a very sloped ceiling and there was a large step down into it which was troublesome at nighttime. If you were any taller than 5,2, then the bathroom would be a struggle as the ceiling was also sloped over the shower. The shower needs updating as the water pressure is very poor. But overall, I really enjoyed my stay and the host was very lovely and her breakfast was delicious in the morning.
If for your personal reasons you need to operate the most restrictive check-in times I have ever come across please at least headline them for when people are deciding whether or not to book, especially if your journey might be delayed. I arrived at latest possible arrival time (9.30pm) but took a few minutes to get to park & get to the front door.
Excellent price. Parking good. Wi-Fi good. Lovely quiet area. Easy to find. Great looking building, lots of charm inside. Uncomfortable bed and the shower controls were nigh on impossible & the flow was sadly little more than a trickle.
Peaceful place just wgat I needed after a hectic few weeks.Very spacious garden view room spotlessly clean and garden view.Plenty of parking easy to find and excellent value for money.
Lovely garden and Michie was helpful
Only small point was forst night very cold -17th century house and no heating on first night and breakfast room very cold heaters off morning after, but think was as autumnal snap took us all by surprise. Room was warm next day.
The Cottage is not what you might think - far from being small it's actually a beautifully restored and maintained 17th century house with no less than 15 guest rooms and despite being just a few miles from Stanstead airport it's set in the midst of beautiful countryside.
I've stayed in countless similar sized hotels and guest houses all over Europe but this one really made an impression for many reasons. Firstly it's a beautiful old building traditionally furnished and yet it has absolutely everything you need. Secondly, if you want to relax in peace, the Cottage ticks every box. In the evening, remarkably, you can look out the window and to all intents and purposes imagine you are on a remote Scottish island - there's hardly a light in sight to spoil the darkness and the utter silence is bemusing.
The hostess at the Cottage is a most charming and friendly Japanese lady which probably explains why everything is spotlessly clean, and absolutely nothing appears out of place. After a particularly long and fraught journey I could not have asked for a friendlier reception, or a more pleasant garden in which to sit for a while and unwind.
