We loved staying at Dalton Abbey Retreat. It was clean and thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen had everything one needed for home cooking. There was even emergency pantry items if something was forgotten at the store (which we timed to be about 15 minutes to the Ingles Supermarket in Black Mountain). There were quite a few dvd's, games, puzzles, books for children and a desk area for children to color or draw, in one of the bedrooms. There is satellite tv and we had no problem with wifi. The screened porch is a nice place to enjoy dinner. There is a sweet playhouse in the yard. We did see some bears, but they seem to know when trash day is and visit accordingly. Walk up the road a little way and there is a beautiful view of the Seven Sisters in the distance. There is so much to see and do in Black Mountain and the surrounding areas. This is a great base to explore from. Just as a last thought- It has been mentioned that the road to the house is unpaved and bumpy, but there is only one small section near the highway that is somewhat washboarded, otherwise it is a slow, easily traversable, and quite smooth mountain road. It is good to be on 'mountain time' and de-stress.
