We were thrilled when we arrived! The place seemed perfect in every way.
We brought our two mini dachshunds, who poked around outside for a bit. We also took them for a walk. About 20 mins after we returned to the house, our beloved dog, Pluto, began having violent tremors and died within 4-6 minutes. It was horrifying. We raced him to a local vet, although he was likely dead before we got him to the car.
After some online sleuthing, his death seems consistent with death by metaldehyde, which is not legal in most places on earth, but is in the US and is used for slug and snail poison. I have tried to engage the property manager/owner to find out if they are using this poison on the property. Once they learned what had happened, they stopping responding to me. They would not respond about whether they are using this on the property and now will not return my calls. My goal is simply to find out if this is how Pluto died and, if so, to ask them to clearly communicate this to prospective renters so no one else has to go through what we did. Shame on you for not working with me to assure this doesn't happen to anyone else at this property! What is wrong with you people???
