Good house close to the ocean. I would stay here again. Only wish was a better selection of cookware and a more user friendly door/directions on how to lock it back up.
Everything was great. Had all we needed . Front door lock was lower on batteries and they accommodated us with how to get the key to get in. Weâre definitely stay again.
Location was lovely surroundef by trees and close to the beach.Lots of windows upstairs created a tree house effect .Separate bedrooms and baths upstairs and downstsirs offered plenty of privacy.
The beds were filthy, sheets hadn't been changed. We had to change the sheets. There was sand, dirt and hair all over them. The mattress had sand and pee stains all over them. The floors had sand, the furniture had black long hair all over the place. The location was very nice, a very short walk to the beach, you can see the ocean from the driveway. We would have had an outstanding stay if it wasn't for the dirty beds.
Great house, very cozy, lovely location. We could walk to the ocean. Lots of towels, clean linens. One burner was not very hot but the other ones worked. Slippery shower, slippery stairs - three out of four of us slipped in the shower or stairs. It does smell mildewy, which is kinda gross, but every house I have ever stayed at near the beach has that smell. Really great location. Lovely light. Comfy beds. I would stay again except for that smell. No one else noticed it, I just have a strong nose. Good price for what you get. Nothing is brand new but my house isn't new, either.
Nice to get away from it all and relax in a quiet secluded area. Small portable heaters were useful in the bedroom and tv room / futon room on the first floor.
The furniture was a little dated and locking the property on our way out was a little tricky. The property felt safe and it was super close to the beach.
Spent the weekend here with my family and we really enjoyed our time. Itâs nearby Bodega and Santa Rosa. Getting everywhere seem like such a short distance.
I would definitely return.
The place was nice enough, though it needed someone with a toolbox to give it some love, but overall not bad, and if you like escape rooms, you might enjoy trying to find the light switches around this place!Among the fun things in this house is the basement dehumidifier that turns on every few minutes and causes the living room lights to blink off and come back on. Dress warmly if you want to play pool or watch a movie because the heat doesn't reach that room and if you try to use the two tiny space heaters in there you will trip the circuit breaker. The real problem was that the property is managed (owned?) by some company that wanted me to use their website to manage my rental rather than VRBO - no thanks. This other company was also very spammy and sent me 10 emails ahead of my stay and nine texts! That is approximately 17 too many!I signed up for a quiet vacation, not to get spammed.
Great spot and cute place. Lots of stairs so be weary of that. My dad is older and moves slowly so he didnât even go to the second floor but luckily there was everything he needed on the first floor. Very cute and cozy inside. Some of the lights seemed to not work or be intermittent. There was an loudish humidifier (or something downstairs) that would kick on and off that we werenât allowed to turn off. It also seemed to be a big power draw as the lights dimmed every time it kicked on. Pool table was nice but think the cues need some attention. Missing some tips and itâs tight in some spaces so you need the smaller cue but they were all missing the tip. Really close to places to eat and walk to the beach which was shower nice. Cleaning fee seemed a bit high especially since we werenât really there but to sleep. But, I would go back here again. .
Loved our stay! Just a few issues. The thermostat wasnât working, a lot of lights were not working, electrical issue? WiFi was spotty. Beautiful location
Myself, my sister and a high school friend reunited and had a wonderful tine on the west coast. We had a fabulous time staying at the Pelican House! Proximity to beach was superb. Everthing we needed for our stay was right at our finger tips. The home was very clean, and beds were comfy. Just a couple of cob webs hanging around in areas usually missed by routine house keeping. We would absolutely stay at Pelican House in Bodega Bay, again, when visiting!
Nice location, with beautiful sun-lit living room, but otherwise underwhelming for the price. This property is not managed by the owner, but instead, VACASA, a management company. Seems like the place is suffering from neglect. Downstairs bedroom bed broke when my (petite) sister-in-law first sat on it. Seems like the slats were not the right size (I have picture to share if relevant). Front two elements on electric stove do not work. Hood vent did not work in kitchen, so fire alarm went off. Rack wheel broken on top dishwasher rack, so difficult to move. Only one rack in oven: should have at least two, and I needed a second one. Rods missing from several venetian blinds in living, so can't close when sun is streaming in. Significant water damage in upstairs bathroom: plywood panelling warped and broken (also have picture to share).
Quiet, relaxing, clean property with extremely close access to Salmon Creek State Beach. Plenty of room for a family of up to 6 to stay & sleep comfortably if needed. My husband & I came here for a getaway weekend and it was exactly what we got. Close to HWY 1 for drives along the coast and exploring the area. Would stay again! Thank you!
We enjoyed staying at the place but there are few things can be improved:
Entry lock set is not easy to use.
Under cabinet lights were not working at all.
There was a power outage but we couldnât find any flash lights nor matches.
We could have used a wine bottle opener.
Major problems with unsafe upper deck is a lawsuit in the making. Leaky sink faucet. Crack pipe in the bathroom. Tiny kitchen.Fireplace needs cleaning spewing ash all over. Couldn't get in the front and only door. Repairs needed around shower with mold and rot. Wont be staying there again. Other then that, it was great
Staying in a rustic, remote neighborhood by the beach was a perfect way to unwind and spend time with my family. Itâs about 20 minutes for shopping and restaurants though a walk from the house for walks on the beach. We hiked Goat trail-about 20 minute drive on the coast, went horseback riding (outside Bodega Bay) and spent a day on the Russian River. The house was well equipped with comfortable beds and hang out area with pool table. It was a little cold when we first arrived though the central heat works. We used the wood burning stove for the rustic feel-works well to heat the house.
