A striking modern hotel with high-end finishes and a great location within steps of the lake. Our room was large and comfortable. We arrived about midday in the pouring rain and unfortunately our room wasn't ready so we had to hang around as there wasn't much else to do. We did eat lunch in the hotel restaurant which was very good. We also had dinner one night in the hotel but were less impressed as we felt a few of the dishes weren't as described on the menu (different ingredients and cooking methods etc). Breakfast choice was very good. Location is good - very close to the lake but the area doesn't have a huge amount to offer in terms of bars/restaurants if you don't want to drive. But for a few nights stay it was fine.
Negatives - on the first night the fire alarms went off repeatedly for about an hour around 1am. I went down to reception and there didn't seem to be any staff on site - just what seemed to be guests trying to figure out the alarm system?! Strange. And in the morning there was no apology issued etc. Also we travelled with a 7y/o (a lot of families around) and the hotel is not geared for kids - not allowed in the pool, no kids menu in the restaurant etc. Finally, the heating was off in the hotel and we didn't have great weather to dry stuff on the balcony, which meant no way of drying clothes, swimmers, even bath towels which was a bit annoying.
