Great location. Woke in the morning to the sound of rowers outside in the river! Like other reviews mentioned, the oven & some burners do not work. Also, if you have more than 4 people, you might want to bring extra sheets. Lots of blankets, but no additional sheets although advertised as "sleeps 6".
We enjoyed our stay here for a football weekend. The location (easy walk to Harvard Square) was a highlight, and it was a good value. Note that as the host mentions, it is an older building and so it has some quirks, particularly the stairs which might not be great for folks who have mobility issues. We'll seek this place out again if in the area.
The construction around the property was very problematic during our stay as well as the property parking. There was an area but needed to share with other renters in which if you wanted to get out you needed to contact them to move their vehicle. The beds were very comfortable but a safety hazard for lower legs if you hit frame because the mattress and frame donât match. One room did not have AC, cracked windows, back balcony unsafe, tvs very difficult to use, dishwasher did not work.It was nice to have washer and dryer that worked. The accomdations needed some freshening up with paint and repairs. The location was great for walking around and watching activity on river.
Location, Location, Location! We stayed here for a concert at the Garden, walked to dinner in Harvard Square and then took the T into the Garden. I would stay here again!
This rental was not as pictured. The building is old, and the unit is up three flights of stairs. It was over 90°F when we arrived, and instead of central AC (as implied), there were portable AC units in every room. They were loud, inefficient, and couldnât keep the unit cool. The living room AC had a homemade hose setup that ended up leaking all over the kitchen we had to clean it with the limited towels provided (only five total, including just one small hand towel for the bathroom).
There were no cleaning supplies or paper towels, and overall the unit felt unclean and worn down. The âwater viewâ was almost entirely blocked by trees. This was my first trip to Boston and, unfortunately, it started off on the wrong foot. I wouldnât recommend this rental. Thankfully, the rest of our trip was at another property
Also host provided us entry instruction just under an hour before we arrived and I had to ask them for it⊠Not my usual rental experience.
The furniture is old as seen in the pictures and the rooms are a bit musty but clean. Itâs not possible to open all of the windows. At our stay the dishwasher didnât work and the water leaked out if the air conditioner. But the host was very friendly. He wanted to repair the devices.
Property was in a great location, but definitely has seen better days. It would suffice for younger crowds coming to visit their friends in Cambridge.
The stairs to walk up are not the easiest for anyone who has minor challenges with stairs. The door opens toward the stairs, making it challenging to unlock and enter if your hands are full. The electronic lock is finicky, and at one point it locked us out due to too many retries. We were simply trying to activate the keypad to enter the code. Luckily, someone from our party was in the unit and we woke them up to let us in. The most concerning thing about the lock was we had no idea how long weâd have to wait until we could retry the code once we were locked out of using the keypad.
Didnât feel comfortable parking in the drive, as itâs a tandem spot and you have to coordinate with other tenants if anyone needs to move. Street parking requires a permit, except on weekends and evenings.
Kitchen wasnât filthy, but there were spots that had a decent amount of dust buildup.
One of the beds had a frame that was too big, and a piece of metal stuck out that one of our party had a rather unfortunate encounter with. I dunno how that hasnât been an issue previously.
The paper shades were fastened up with some sort of chip clips that were at their max being only halfway up. This was a nuisance.
Walkability was really good, short distance to Harvard square and the metro station.
The Property was charming and clean. It was close to Harvard Square and the Campus at a reasonable price. The owner was reachable and helped out with questions. It was very warm when we arrived and the A/C was not working. Opening the windows and with couple of portable fans helped to cool down. Kitchen was nice and clean.
I'll start with the positives. Price was great for 2 nights. The place was clean but could be cleaner. Location worked for us. Short walk into Harvard Sq and the T. Negatives. We stayed in unit 3, top floor. The windows need to be replaced big time! No locks at all facing Mt. Auburn St. Granted no one could enter from there unless they had a ladder, but come on. Monday is trash day. 5:30-6am, wow! You are locked into the noise for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Patch work repairs throughout the apartment. A paint job on the front would make for a much better presentation as well as finishing the patch work around the place. Overall it suited our needs. We did not hang out there just a place to crash.
Apartment is decent, well kept/ maintained, and in a good location. Unfortunately when youâre paying over 200/night, you like there to be hangers in the closets, the ceiling lights in the master bedroom not to be blown/ not working, and for the exhaust fan in the bathroom to work. All of which is acceptable if youâre paying under 125/ night. But not acceptable at over 200/ night
Comfortable, well stocked and quiet apartment. Great view of rowers on the Charles. Only about a 10 minute walk to the T in Harvard Square. Off street parking is a huge bonus. Driveway is tight and it could be a problem if there were several cars, but not for us as we mostly left the car. There are two flights of stairs, but they are well lit and manageable.
Itâs a short walk to Harvard square and near a nice small park as well as the river front park. Awesome location for sure. The building is very old and shows its age. The apartment needs updating, the bed was fine, but not great, and the furnishings are nothing special overall. There were ants in the bathroom and it could have been cleaner too. The TV worked good, didnât use the kitchen but it didnât really inspire use. Nice views of river but the road noise is a bit loud. We would not stay again, but it was very walkable around Harvard Square. We were able to park our car in the driveway overnight with no problems though it did seem to be shared with the other units in the building so if one of them parked behind you would have to text the person and get them to move their car, there was a whiteboard system in the hallway for that. I would encourage the owner to renovate, this place would be a lot more attractive that way.
Great location, lots of space, free parking. Beds so soft you'll sink into 'em. Easy access. Truly a gem for the visitors in Boston area.Walk to bustling Harvard Square, relax in the park next door, stroll the streets of Old Cambridge soaked in colonial history.[ Understand it's an old house, so definitely not for the people who only accept brand spankin' new stuff. If you drop a golf ball on the floor in any of the rooms, it'll keep rolling. But it's a part of the charm package. :) ]Walk to bustling
