My daughter, her husband, and their three youngest children (ages 12, 15 & 18) accompanied me in memory of my wife Terri, who passed December 26, 2021. I made the reservation with only about one month lead time, and did so quickly after another confirmed vrbo booking had cancelled my reservation just an hour after confirming and accepting my payment. It was apparently a double booking. But my concern was that I quickly needed to find another location to confirm.
Prospective renters for this home should be aware that the nightly rate displayed is for only TWO occupants. Any additional occupants will incur an additional daily fee, per occupant. I find this misleading considering it is a 3 bedroom home that touts it will accommodate up to 12 people. Logically, a 3BR should accommodate a minimum of 6. So the published rate should reflect the fee for at least 6, not 2. As a result, the effective daily rate for our stay was well over the published rate per night, plus normal cleaning and service fees. There was also a hefty charge to heat the pool, which we paid. However, there were issues with the pool heater and the pool temp never reached a usable level. In fairness, ambient temps were low that week; in the 30s and 40s overnight. But the heating system indicated a failure, we weren't able to use it, but there was no concession to us for the amount paid for heated pool. The map for check-in had the wrong address, there was no garage remote, only one hair dryer, hall bath shower faucet was reverse plumbed and low pressure from the shower head. Initially, it was thought the home was out of hot water, until we learned the faucet needed to be turned to cold to obtain hot water. The shower head seems to be an ultra water saver type or is obstructed with buildup, but requires longer shower time because of such limited water throughput.
Bottom line, renter's be aware that the effective rate is actually much higher unless you only have two people staying. And at such a high cost, one should expect to have a high bar for accommodations, not the deficiencies noted above. I accept responsibility for making the reservation in haste to lock in a place to stay after another cancelled. But I consider the posted rate deceptive, and unreasonable compared to other locations whose rates are based on normal and reasonable occupancy for the number of bedrooms.
