This is our second year staying in this house with our friends on our annual visit to the Abingdon. Itâs perfect for the 4 of us. We will be back next year.
The house was surrounded by parking lots which seemed very odd. Also the house had no window treatments in the main living area which made it uncomfortable to relax.I would not recommend this stay.
This place was filthy. The bathroom was disgusting. There were no blinds in the living room/ kitchen. The blinds in one of the bedrooms was sheer. I had to hang sheets up for privacy. The ac units on the wall in each room were not working. One of the bedrooms was too hot to sleep in the first night. They did come the next day and put a stand up ac unit in the second bedroom and refunded one night. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least.
Tucked just off the main road, Lil Blue is located just a less than 30 minute drive to the Bristol area and minutes away from Abingdon. We enjoyed the Bristol Caverns, Appalachian Caverns and Backyard Terror and Dinosaurs one day of our stay. Then as we drove home, various locations of The Virginia Creeper Trail. The house was stocked with plenty of essentials. The location is pretty quiet, inviting and relaxing; we enjoyed morning coffee on the back porch. The owners have a great personality, leave an extra touch of hospitality and quick to respond.
Location was excellent for Highland Festival activities. Lil Blue had everything we needed. Hosts made check in/check out process easy and were quick to respond to questions. We enjoyed use of the porch and loved walking to coffee shop.
We had a great time in Abingdon and our stay at the cottage was lovely. The location was perfect to bike to the Creeper Trail and to many cute restaurants. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and comfortable.
Great location. Went up to visit family. While speaking with host, he called to check in with us to see how things were going, I mentioned we were building a large fence enclosure. Host offered to lend us an Auger to drill the post holes. It saved us about 300 in rental fees. Very nice of them.
We enjoyed our two night stay. We have a 12 year tradition of meeting our friends in Abingdon to see a play at the Barter Theater and enjoyed staying at the house vs a hotel. We will be back next year!!!
We enjoyed this property during our weekend getaway! The hosts were communicative and helpful, it was clean and comfortable, and we loved the convenient location in walking distance of restaurants and shops. I agree with other reviews that a few privacy shades in the main room would be much appreciated by guests, but overall we highly recommend this property, and we look forward to staying here again in the future!

My wife and I are considering moving to SW Virginia and have spent increasingly more time there. We loved the location of the Blue House as well as the house itself. Tastefully and thoughtfully decorated, open and spacious. Abbey and Ron have done a fantastic job on the house and are gracious hosts. Check in and check out were simpler than any hotel. It made for a perfect launch pad for us to hike several times in the area as well as ride the Creeper Trail. A block off the main street, quiet but incredibly convenient to restaurants and shopping. You will love it!
