Beautiful place. The land was incredible. The only thing is that it really isnât a place for 75 & older. Too many small steps to each room. Bedroom upstairs & bathroom down stairs.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this exceptionally restored log cabin. The kids loved splashing in the creek and smores over the fire. We watched the summer afternoon rains storms from the front porch while the kids giggled dancing in the rain. Would come again!!
We loved staying here! My kids didnât want to leave. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It was quiet and beautiful, it was wonderful to disconnect and have family time.
Absolutely perfect stay. Everything is exactly as pictured. The bed is so comfortable, the shower and tub are divine. The creek is cool and refreshing. Bring firewood and charcoal, paper plates if you don't want a lot of dishes. Bring a good book and enjoy the view from the front porch. Lay under the stars. Relax. You are completely disconnected no service at all.
This was just what we needed. It was nice to unplug for a few days and just enjoy our family with no distractions. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We made sâmores on the fire and cooked steaks on the grill. There is a lot of things to do within a short distance.
If you want a rustic, clean, beatiful cabin to get away, this is the place you want. You can sit on front porch and hear the water flow from the creek, I can't express in words how cool this place is, Awesome time there!
What a great family getaway! We enjoyed exploring the property, many hours at the bonfire, fishing in the streams, and morning coffee on the wraparound porch. The rustic cabin had all the essentials you could need and was a comfortable stay. We have four young children and it fit the bill great. We really enjoyed having no cell phone service. The satellite TV was nice to watch a movie one evening as a family otherwise we didnât turn it on because we were outdoors all hours in the rain.
This place was so peaceful. Story book setting. The perfect to disconnect from everything & connect w/ loved ones. The decor was great & the beds were cozy. Everything we expected it to be.
The cabin is so beautiful very rustic and in very well conditions. You have everything for basic needs inside the cabin. Plenty of space and very organized. I really enjoy the time I spend in the cabin... the only downside I found is that was a bad odor when we enter ... seems like some couches or bed clothes needs to be replace.. I change all the bed clothes and put some ambient odors and fix the bad odor in the room. The other downside and very important is that there i no wifi signal at all... AT&T and Verizon does not work at all for call or text so there is mo say to get in comunicaciĂłn with anybody unless you go back at least 7 miles away to a gas station where the phone start getting any signal... there is no phone inside the cabin either... so you are by yourself there.
We found this cabin and from pictures alone thought it would make a perfect location to stay and celebrate our anniversary! The pictures did not do it justice. This little cabin was absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed the lack of cell service because it allowed us to unplug from the everyday! We loved it so much we plan to try and come back year after year! My husband and I were able to celebrate our 10th anniversary and the kids were able to have a blast playing outside!
We had a great time - enjoyed the quiet and the nature. saw a brand new fawn and enjoyed the sound of the rain of the roof. I think a hot tub would be great, but loved the soaking tub!
Beautifully restored cabin in quiet relaxing setting
The cabin itself was beautifully restored, keeping the original character with updated amenities to make you comfortable. It had everything we needed for our family of 6. The land was so fun to explore, between the babbling creek, the morning deer grazing, fireflies at night; our whole family enjoyed it all. We spent a lot of time on that wrap around porch; watching the kids run around the yard, the rain fall, or just sipping coffee. It is also located close to the Safari Park & Natural Bridge.
This property was clean and beautiful! We received plentiful communication and had no issues with checkin. Shower Water pressure was strong and temperature was hot. None of us in our group had cell service, so we would just drive to the end of the road to make calls. The location is quite rural, so make sure you plan ahead with food and packing. We saw all kinds of wildlife and enjoyed the property. If you are looking for a quiet off grid weekend, I would recommend this cabin without hesitation!
What a wonderful place to stay and relax! We had zero service the whole time and it was amazing! The exterior property is amazing and plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy sites and sounds from the wraparound porch. Interior is far larger than expected! So much character too! Comfy chairs, sofas, beds, pillows and a million blankets, my all time favorite! Tons of hiking trails near to the house! We didnt go to any local attractions as the purpose for me is to surround myself with the outdoors, but we have plans to check some out in the future! The kitchen is fully stocked, and the bath comes with a ton of towels! I noticed some reviews regarding the tub and the water temp. Easy! Fill it full with just hot water as it goes, and then add cold as needed. You can use the huge pot to boil some additional water as needed! It remained hot and we all enjoyed some tub time! Thank you for an amazing stay, we couldn't be more thankful!
We loved this place from the time we first pulled in the drive and even more when we walked inside. It was everything we expected. We were looking for down time to relax and that is exactly what we got. The outdoor firepit was perfect to sit and enjoy the cool evenings. The cabin had everything we needed e.g., linens, pots and pans, spices etc., and even though there was no Wi-Fi or cell signal, the TV had tons of channels and my husband was happy that he could watch the Steeler game (even though they lost). My favorite spot was the loveseat in the dining area. It was perfect to curl up in and read a good book in the mornings. Though the place is remote, there are other homes close by and cars up and down the road which was nice to know we weren't completely isolated. There isn't a lot to do, but that is what we were looking for. We did go into Buchanan for lunch one day to 'James River Drip' which is about 12 miles. Food was good and owners friendly. The only thing I would be conscience of is that there are steps to the main bedroom. If you are not good on steps, have bad knees, you should take this into consideration. We are seniors and fortunately we are still able to do the steps though we are slower these days. We are definitely planning to come back within the next year but want to stay longer next time. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoyed ours!!
I love everything about this property/home. Has lots of character and well kept up. It has everything you need. The only two complaints I have is hot water only lasts for a few minutes, then straight cold. Not enjoyable! I wanted to take a bath but again hot water only lasts for a few minutes so I ended up boiling water .
The second complaint is there should be a better handle on the inside bathroom door. Sometimes itâs hard to open with only your finger tips.
Other than that we enjoyed ourselves. We plan on coming back in the future. Thank you!
