The ultimate Cotswolds cottage experience

Our little family had an amazing week-long stay at Greenview Cottage over Christmas. The property is undeniably stunning - so beautifully upgraded with all the mod-cons, whilst maintaining its olde worlde ambiance and charm. We were very comfortable and warm - being December, it was quite chilly! - and we loved that its location made daytripping around the Cotswolds countryside very easy. The little extras - Christmas tree & breakfast goods - were greatly appreciated, and we would absolutely recommend Greenview Cottage for a truly comfortable, memorable and authentic British cottage stay.

Enjoyable visit to the Cotswolds

We had a lovely stay at Greenview cottage. The house was perfect for our family reunion, very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the local villages; Burford and Bourton on the water were favourites. We also enjoyed the folly and nuclear bunker experience at Broadway and also the Hawkstone brewery. We wish we had a bit longer in this pretty part of England!

Amazing Cottage

All in all a wundervoll stay

We had a wonderful stay at Greenview Cottage, nestled in such a beautiful little village. We especially enjoyed the public footpath through the fields just around the corner. The cottage is lovely, cosy, and well equipped, although it did take us some time to find things in the kitchen, as items seemed to be stored rather randomly. As mentioned in another review, we also had some trouble figuring out where to put our rubbish. One other small thing worth mentioning is, that the bathroom could feel a little cold in the mornings. We completely understand that the heating was only on for certain hours in the morning and evening, but we were not always sure of the morning schedule, so it occasionally felt a bit chilly. Other than that, we loved the cottage, especially the beautiful roses at the front, and we also enjoyed sitting in the small garden. Just one small suggestion: as the cottage is very old and full of character, there are a few steps between rooms, sometimes in places you would not quite expect. One of us unfortunately broke her foot on one of these steps in the main bedroom while trying to get to the bathroom in the dark. Of course, this could have happened anywhere and was nobody’s fault but perhaps a small night light might help future guests. All in all, we were very happy at Greenview Cottage and would love to come back again someday.

Wonderful cottage for a family reunion in a very accessible position for visiting the Cotswolds (and also arrival). We loved every minute! Very well appointed family home with everything you could need. We'll be back!

A wonderful long weekend

From the moment we opened the door, we fell in love with the cottage! Everything has been thought of to make guests feel comfortable during their stay. We really enjoyed our weekend and would love to come back again. Little Barrington is a delightful place with a fabulous pub a few mins walk away. Burford is also worth visiting which is walkable.

A January Stay

The location is wonderful for a Cotswolds break. Close to Burford, Stowe and many other market towns. The house is also very nice. It felt like a home away from home. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils. The living room has very comfy sofas. All the bedrooms are a good size and the beds comfortable.

Such a homely country cottage!

A beautiful cottage with all the character and quirks you’d expect from a property of its age. The 1st floor bedrooms were bigger than we expected. Beds were comfy and the kitchen was a delight for those of us who like cooking. The cottage is big but still has a really homely feel. Location is great. Very peaceful, but just a short drive to the bustling high street at Burford. The fox pub is dog friendly and less than 10 mins stroll from the property. They do great food (try the fish and chips!). We stayed at Greenview as a group of 5 adults and would love to go back.

A cosy family Winter’s weekend escape at Greenview Cottage

Such a wonderful weekend escape to beautiful Greenview Cottage in Little Barrington. It is truly quintessential English country setting with a perfect cosy cottage set on the green. Greenview Cottage is so homely, kitchen fully equipped with all that is needed, gorgeous living room with log burner - which warmed and brightened us all on a dreary January night, the beds are super comfy- everyone slept so well, wonderful walks straight from the doorstep and to be able to walk to the local pub, The Fox Inn was an added bonus - really recommend this pub too! Food delicious and the setting is beautiful. Such a perfect weekend. We will definitely be back soon! The only comments I would suggest would be the heating was cold on our arrival for a January Friday evening, however, we got the log burner going immediately and this helped. Also the rubbish bins outside could do with better labelling - it was all a great guessing game as to what rubbish went where. Obviously the previous people had the same problem as the food waste bin had bottles in too! However, these niggles are nothing compared to the fabulous stay we had!

Great stay in Beautiful location

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Greenview. We were 3 couples who meet up a few times a year all over the country - the house was perfect for our stay. Spacious, beautifully designed, very well equipped and in a wonderful, peaceful location. We ate in one evening and found cooking and eating in the kitchen a real pleasure. Being super critical, the only 2 slight negatives would be: a) cleanliness - appreciate it’s a big old house to clean but there were lots of cobwebs, dusty surfaces etc. b) quality of the towels, linen etc was very “budget”, not in keeping with the rest of the house and experience. Neither of those really affected our enjoyment of Greenview and we all agreed before leaving we’d love to come back and stay again.

Weekend Away

The cottage was perfect for a stay in the Cotswolds. The only disappointment was the Welcome basket. No local produce just supermarket bland bread and a couple of other items. That said we had a great trip. The cottage was clean and equipped with everything we needed. Upton Smokey Farm shop was a real treat for fresh local produce, The Fox pub just a short walk along with the so many other great things to do in the Cotswolds. I would recommend this cottage and it's beautiful location.

80 th Birthday break

Beautiful cottage, we had problem with oven door not closing properly, had to wedge chair against it. Window blind in bedroom lying on floor. No kindling or fire lighters supplied as stated. Planned power cut for whole day, of which we were not informed, one of my party unable to work online. Standard of cleaning poor. Nonetheless enjoyed stay!

Wonderful time had by all

From the minute we parked and walked through the lovely old front door you felt comfortable,cosy,and at home. Absolutely everything you needed was there,plenty of mugs for a cuppa to a few logs to get the fire going. The rooms were spacious and well appointed,the bathrooms clean and plenty of towels to use. We went for a lovely walk around the village in the morning and walked to a wonderful pub in the evening. I loved every second,I would do it all over again at the drop of a hat xxxx

Perfect cottage getaway

We very much enjoyed our stay at Greenview. It has plenty of sofa space to sit around the fire and the kitchen is equally convivial. All the bedrooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. The Fox pub, just a 5 minute walk away, is ideal if you want to eat out for lunch or dinner. It’s a short drive to all of the popular tourist spots and there are some lovely walks if you prefer not to venture too far. Basics such as milk, eggs etc are provided as a starter for when you arrive but we felt that the owners are missing a trick not to leave fresh bread or a cake given the fantastic local produce in the area. That would have been a nice touch.

A Long Weekend At Greenview Cottage

We recently spent a long weekend at Greenview Cottage to celebrate a family birthday. The cottage is beautiful, very well equipped and spacious. We stayed at the end of March and the cottage was warm with plenty of hot water for showers and baths. We liked the small touches of milk, bread and eggs on arrival too. The cottage was exactly as it looks on the website. It is worth remembering that the cottage is several hundred years old so stairs are steep and the cottage is on multiple levels - although that was not an issue for us. We very much enjoyed our stay here and it really helped to make the birthday celebrations along with visits we made to the nearby Cotswold Distillery and The Farmers Dog. We would recommend Greenview Cottage and StayCotswold.

Cotswold mini break

A beautiful house in a quiet pretty village, ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. Parking easy outside for 2 cars and the beds were very comfortable. Went to local pub for dinner and the house owners had even thought to provide torches and umbrellas by the front door. Only odd thing is that the bed in 4th bedroom wasn’t made up on arrival, apparently that had to be requested as extra which we found a bit strange as if I’d have wanted 3 bedrooms I would have rented a 3 bed cottage! Apart from that the experience was very enjoyable and we would recommend the house to all.

Lovely well equipped cottage. Perfect for our stay for a family wedding.

This cottage met our expectations on all levels. Well equipped for our family group. It is quirky but comfortable. It made a great base for our family wedding in Windrush. Just off the A40 so very accessible and only 5mins to Burford. The stairs are steep and the upper floor bedrooms are for the more able bodied. But this is to be expected in a house this age. The master bedroom suite is fantastic and very spacious. We also loved the quirky front garden next to the village green. We loved our stay and highly recommend the cottage and Stay Cotswold - very professional.

Perfect venue for a special stay in the Cotswolds!

We chose Greenview Cottage for a 40 year reunion of 4 Uni friends and one of the ladies turned 60 during our stay so it was to be a ‘special’ birthday setting too. I knew Burford would be the perfect location for a stay in the Cotswolds and Greenview Cottage provided the perfect accommodation. A stunning property in a beautiful village less than 10 mins from Burford. Lovely rooms although if you need all beds making up for when you arrive, make sure you tell them. We sadly had to make up the bed of the fourth room ourselves. Can thoroughly recommend though. Thank you!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely cottage in a picturesque village

Lovely cottage - very well equipped and nicely located for exploring. We loved the walks from the doorstep. It was a little dark inside due to the small windows. Had everything that we needed but the microwave was in a small cupboard high up. This is seriously unsafe and only our six foot son could safely use and reach it. We highly recommend that this is removed from the cupboard asap and place on a surface.

Perfect 5 star Chocolate Box Cottage!

We absolutely loved our 4-day stay at Greenview Cottage. It really is the idyllic chocolate box cottage set in a tranquil village overlooking a green, surrounded by 18th-century cottages, a red telephone box and a cosy country pub a few minutes walk. The cottage is very well-appointed and finished to a very high standard. The kitchen is stocked like a home kitchen; we baked cookies, we cooked a roast, there is everything you could need. We spent cosy evenings by the log burner playing chess and draughts and eating cheese from Burford. There are loads of lamps dotted around the cottage, so you can always find a cosy corner to curl up and read, lots of cushions and blankets too. Location-wise, it's in the perfect spot, away from the hustle and bustle of Burford but only a 5-minute drive away. We walked one day - it's 6 miles - I highly recommend this, the walk was so peaceful among the fields, and we didn't pass anyone on the way there or back. It's not a muddy walk either, even in Autumn. We would definitely book to stay again, we had the loveliest of trips. It's our first booking with Stay Cotswold too, we loved the communication leading up to the trip and the app with all the info we could need.
