We've been going to the Outer Banks for several years now with our 2 boys, and decided to add Buxton to our list. Real quickly, the town was great for what we needed. Of course it's not going to have everything that the busier northern towns do, but Conners grocery was great, and there are a couple of decent restaurants. As for the house, it's about what you'd expect. It's a little bit older and could use some updating. The bathrooms were clean. The kitchen was adequate. One issue was the microwave. It was above the stove and the hood for the stove. I am over 6 feet tall and putting things in it was tough. I would imagine anyone shorter than me would need a stool. The AC worked great. The pool was in nice shape. With two kids under the age of 10, having a decent pool is a must. The house was about a 5 minute walk to the beach. No worries there. My biggest issue was the beds. The master bedroom was quite possibly the worst mattress I've ever slept on. The other bed wasn't much better. The kids didn't seem to mind the bunk beds.Overall, I'd recommend this place. The house has the typical wear and age issues that most houses in this price range, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. 7.5/10
