A wonderful home.Itâs a beautiful home, 4 couples of us really enjoyed it a lot! The top floor with living room, kitchen and dining room was wide and bright with big windows showing beautiful ocean views. The lower two levels of bedrooms were even better, each room was very roomy with its own bathroom and balcony with great views too, you couldnât find this kind of setup in any other homes. They also kept good contacts with us and provided great services. One of us missed placed her precious sunglasses and couldnât find it anywhere. We contacted the company after we left, and they found the sunglasses and were willing to mail them back to our friend. Our friend was so super happy about it. We had a wonderful stay and left there with very sweet and happy memories. Thank you for the wonderful house and great services!
I loved my stay at Highlands in Carmel! It was one of the best experiences Iâve ever had. The building was exceptionally clean. While the location is a bit farther than it appears in the photos, it still offers the most stunning views of both the ocean and the forest, and it's situated in a beautiful area.I especially appreciated that the windows didnât have curtainsâyou could enjoy the breathtaking scenery at all times. Each bedroom had its own private bathroom, which was a great convenience. We stayed here to bike the 17-Mile Drive, and the location was perfect for that.Working with Vrbo was also a great experienceâcommunication was smooth and easy throughout the process.I would absolutely stay here again!
Spacious, with gorgeous views of the Monterey Bay. Truly an excellent getaway to spend my 40th! My only regret is I didn't bake in more time to spend at the property.
Property is beautiful, unfortunately Vacasa manages the property. An area power outage for 3 days left us without electricity or running water. Vacasa gave us no support, no supplies including flashlights. Forced to leave after the first night.
Wouldn't let us park our car early because we would be using the houses amenities without checking in. Wifi went out 2nd day and there is no signal, outlets didn't work. Wasted an entire day trying to get wifi back unsuccessfully and then checked out.
Great location and could be a great house, but listing is not accurate and service was TERRIBLE
Listing title says "grill" and there was no grill setup. Microwave was broken. Stove/cooktop did not have power. We got a house instead of a hotel so we could cook and we were not able to. The house was between 84-87 degrees. Two a/c units outside and only one worked for one room in the entire house. We went to bed sweating. I understand things break, but neither VRBO or VACASA did anything to get anything repaired. I spent over 4 hours on the phone and online chat. All I was told is that the local contact is not responding.
Itâs on side of mountain so expect a curvy ride up. This road is explained on the notes. Beautiful place to stay and awesome views. Carmel/Monterrey area is awesome! Lots to see and do.
This house is in a really beautiful location, and is decently modern. Has very strong mid-aughts decor. Views are beautiful, and I like how removed you are from neighbors. The drive up is not great, and even though you can get to many places pretty quickly, the hill up and down is precarious at night or if youâre tired. The wifi was not good, and because it was busy in town for the holiday weekend, cellular data was not great either. Iâd recommend saving or downloading things preemptively for your visit. Some of the bedding had staining, but seemed clean. Found a dead mouse in the trash compactor during our visit. Only a couple screens on windows, so if you want breeze, youâre going to get moths. There was no grill as stated in the listing. Vacasa customer service was decently responsive, but not very helpful, and not apologetic when told about issues. Youâre supposed to text when you check out, and I got a bounce back text. Youâre given no booklet of information about the house. Kitchen was nice, but lacked basics like a cutting board and decent knives. The vent for the stove top was broken.
This is a beautiful home with breathtaking views. It has three stories, with all the rooms located on the second and third lower levels. The nice part is that each room has its own bathroom and shower.
While it is nice to have all the bedrooms away from the living space, it was difficult going up and down the stairs. There are no curtains in any of the rooms because the view is amazing. However, if you are not an early riser, this might be challenging, as the sun will shine directly into the room. We were disappointed that the stove didn't work. We called property management, and while they were responsive to calls and texts, informing us that they had submitted our request, no one followed up with us, and no one came out to check the stove. We couldn't use the stove for the entire trip. Additionally, the ice machine in the fridge didn't work, and none of the power outlets in one of the bedrooms on the bottom floor worked.
We really wanted this house to be part of our annual tradition, but unfortunately, we can't overlook all the flaws and difficulties we experienced.
Rented the house for our extended family during car week. House was large enough to accommodate our family, close enough to the action in town and the views were amazing.
Absolutely gorgeous house, high above Carmel by the Sea! Beautiful great room with views, open kitchen, and fireplace. 6 stars. I would book this again.
Kitchen is severely lacking, no good cookware and not even a cutting board. Place is great but needs to step it up on kitchen and no patio furniture either.
House nice, views incredible, no hot water in master bath, outlets did not work on bedroom opposite Master, One TV had no remote, other TV had terrible channel selection (could not even watch NBA playoffs or SportsCenter) for the price property should have a better TV and a decent streaming service. Kitchen is beautiful but pots and pans and cookware belonged in a one bedroom rental apartment. Decks had magnificent views but NO outdoor furniture or Grill to enjoy the decks. Such a wonderful location warrants your attention to make the VRBO experience much better. This could have been fantastic and amazing instead it was just OK.
Pros:
Views of Carmel, Point Lobos, and the sunset west of Big Sur are awesome â this made the visit
Home was spacious and well appointed for our group of 6, 8 people would be comfortable, but maybe a little tight on living room seating
Everyone slept well in comfortable beds
Kitchen was spacious and good for socializing
Cons:
MICE! In the kitchen, being trapped while we entered the property â NO WARNING from the agent
We found mice poop on entering the property and a dead mouse with all the guts squished in a trap that fell out of the cabinet as we reached for a pan
- We were refunded œ a night stay for this by Vacasa which didnât quite seem like enough for the anxiety
- We had to call 3x to have someone respond to this and tell us where the traps were for safety
Patio table shattered â we were called the morning of check in to let us know, no replacement offered, which we asked for or for a board to set on the table we could cover with a table cloth
- There were still glass shards on the patio, my son stepped on one in bare feet but luckily didnât get cut
- Vacasa refunded a whopping $20 a day for our inconvenience, but never tried to replace or substitute
- Itâs a shame, as the patio would have been much more enjoyable with a table
Inaccurate Listing info:
- The 55 acres are not open to use; this notification comes after booking
- Narrow/single car private road is a test of driving skills and you are not allowed to walk on the road
- NO WHERE NEAR WALKABLE to Po
