Enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Brown Barn. Such a unique fun place to stay with our family with great amenities. The view and location are perfect and foosball and pool were great fun during our down time. Rich and his wife are excellent hosts and shared events in the community they thought we would be interested in. Highly recommend and already booked our stay here again for next year. Bella and Taylor, the cows, were great entertainment for our 18 year old.
We stayed at the Brown Barn for a few days in August and had a wonderful experience. Our favorite things about this rental were the location, property, and activities on site. Our kids loved watching the cows being fed, playing pool and foosball and roasting smores. Weâd highly recommend the Brown Barn for families up to 6 that want to be able to walk in to Point Lobos.
We rented this for the location, which offered us walking access to point Lobo State Park across the road. This well maintained renovated barn offered a large, single living room, kitchen, sleeping areas, pool table, and foosball table all in one space. It was great for us and my boys loved the pool table, foosball table, and a music area with a guitars and a keyboard. thereâs also a very nice outdoor patio with a gas grill and fire pit. aside from Point Lobo State Par One of my favorite outings was to Carmel River beach where my boys swam in the river and there were lots of pelicans in an inland estuary.
This was such a perfect stay. We loved everything about it. Communication with the host was easy, kind and helpful. The barn is very well-appointed and a fun perfect location for our family. Literally perfect! So glad we found this gem and we highly recommend it.
The property was amazing, so unique and clean with a fantastic location. The owners were also amazing and helpful. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in this area
Rich was very accommodating to allow us bring our dogs and addressed the cleanliness issue in a timely manner. What went well: the cows are really cute! Beautiful yard, perfect for throwing a ball with your dog, there were turkeys and geese as well. Lots of games and things to entertain kids, and a really awesome bathroom. What could have been better:Since the main host was on vacation I think we ran into some issues others didn't. We were supposed to meet and get the key from a back up host but we couldn't get in touch with them. We ended up waiting a long time before calling the main host to get the key. We also didn't get a run down of the property and there isn't a guide or directions onsite, so we may have missed out on some stuff (feeding hay to or petting the cows that others had mentioned would have been awesome). The bushes have grown a lot since the photos (to block the highway) and we couldn't see the ocean from the house. This was a bummer since we were so close. You can see the ocean from the back yard but we couldn't hear it due to the busy highway.
This was a weekend stay for my husband and our two adult sons. Excellent communication with host. Check-in was seamless and they appreciated the orientation tour of the property. There are too many amenities to list, but the pool table and guitars were definitely a hit, as were the many TVs and comfy furniture. There was plenty of room to spread out and relax, and everything they needed was provided. The view was described as âsickâ by one of my sons and they all wished they were able to stay another day.
Perfect Getaway with Amazing Hosts and Fun Amenities!
Our stay was absolutely perfect! The property was amazing, both inside and out. Rich and his wife were incredibly kind and welcoming hosts, making us feel right at home. The location was unbeatableâconvenient and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our family especially loved the open floor plan, the pool table, foosball table, and the outdoor grill. We would love to go back again!
The property is a large, comfortable, nicely decorated informal single space in a pastoral setting. Interior featured a kitchen area with counter, all the necessary appliances, dining table, lounging area and large flat screen TV (total of 3), separate bathroom with shower, electric piano, pool table and foosball table, and has large windows/sliding glass doors facing HWY 1 and ocean in distance. Location is great with easy access to all areas without feeling the closeness of city living. Minutes to grocery store, Carmel Mission, and restaurants, beach, and scenery of Point Lobos and Carmel Highlands. Adjacent cows and geese were great company.Rich was a superb host, and took an interest in us enjoying our stay. We had a great time and look forward to staying again.
The most unique property we've stayed at and one that we'd love to re-visit! Morning walks to Point Lobos and Monastery Beach were our highlights. We were beyond fortunate to enjoy 3 perfect weather days in Carmel and cars begin to line up across the street on PCH to walk into Point Lobos. It felt like such a privilege to be able to leave our car and walk there from the Barn. Playing pool and foosball with our daughters was great entertainment. We all needed R&R and all slept so well in the very comfortable beds. The heated floor in bathroom was a very nice touch. We like picking up local coffee and there were multiple options a short drive away. Most importantly, Rich and Daryl are like your new favorite uncle and aunt--there for you if needed. They have their own active lives going on, so you might see each other in passing. We are very grateful they've chosen to share their slice of Heaven in Carmel.
We loved our stay in the restored barn. Very cool, open space that our 5 year old loved to explore. Gorgeous views and prime location. We look forward to staying again in the future!
What a great place and location! The remodeled barn was spacious, comfortable, stylish and unique! Perfect for our family of five. My husband and I did beautiful morning walks while the teens slept in. One day we explored Point Lobos and saw breathtaking views of bird island and the next day we walked through the nearby beach and found an ocean trail to Carmel River Beach. It's just a few minutes drive to downtown Carmel as well. The hosts were wonderful and even brought us some hay to feed the adorable cows before we left. Highly recommend!
The home is much bigger than the pictures, and it has something for everyone, a piano and guitars for the musicians, foosball and a pool table and games for the kiddos. My kids loved playing foosball and playing with the dominos. You can tell Rich put a lot of thought and consideration in the house, from the heated bathroom floors, the firepit for roasting marshmallows, the high-end appliances in the kitchen, and the really nice bedding. My kids liked even the decor, trinkets and various artwork throughout the home. We were just a family of four but this place could comfortably accomodate 6 people. The location is awesome, you can walk to Pt. lobos state reserve. Its only a short drive,15 min to Monterey Aquarium. The kids loved feeding the cows too. I was able to cook nice meals for my kids each day and grill too which is a huge plus. Overall, the place greatly exceeded my expectations. So happy we booked this place.
This was an amazing and unique property. Really great space for the entire family. It does not offer privacy for parents but neither does a hotel room. Beautiful view, fun family time.
Wow, our stay was perfect! Rich & his family are the nicest hosts, the property is so beautiful inside & out, and the location canât be beat! We loved every minute of our stay, and look forward to coming again soon!
We enjoyed our stay. The barn was more spacious than the photos show. Very clean, with all you would need for your stay. A great location, close to the beach and beautiful hikes.
We couldnât have been more comfortable or relaxed, and enjoyed the beautiful property and views. The space was fun for my 10 year old son and in walking distance to great beach views and hikes, and a short drive to Carmelâs village. Wonderful hosts and an excellent property!
Staying at the barn is such a unique experience. We were able to enjoy Sâmores overlooking the ocean, feed and pet miniature highland cows and enjoy everything Carmel and Monterey have to offer. Plus, playing pool kept and foosball kept the kids entertained during any downtime. Weâll definitely be coming back.
