Our stay at The Getaway was beyond our expectations. Not only was the cabin extremely clean and well stocked, but also the hosts have gone out of their way to curate a beautiful, artistic, healing space in this pine grove near the Brazos cliffs and river.We enjoyed the generous and warmly lit deck out front where we listened to stellar jays and to the rain on the metal roof. We had several fires since it was a cooler spring weekend, and the fireplace was absolutely incredible. Our family kept finding unique and interesting things as we explored the rooms -- books, musical instruments, games, and even a courtesy pair of binoculars for watching wildlife. We walked down to the Brazos River, which is gorgeous; we hiked up toward the Brazos waterfall, which wasn't running, but the hike was still beautiful (though quite steep); and we walked through the aspen grove in a neighboring meadow. We played games with our family while enjoying the magical pottery provided and appreciating all the amenities of an upscale hotel but in a quiet, natural setting. Even the fresh towels provided for guests smelled so good. I don't know how there weren't more insects or how there wasn't more dirt in this graceful cabin -- I might need to talk to the hosts to get their secrets on keeping everything sparkling! Thank you, Abby -- we loved our stay!

This place is so cute and set up with everything you need to be comfortable. We spent time at the river (7 min walk from property), Herron Lake and El Vado Reservoir. We didn’t catch any fish, unfortunately, but everywhere we went was really beautiful. Abby is an amazing host, super helpful, kind and accommodating.

The Getaway & More

This is our 3rd stay at “The Getaway.”It’s a wonderful place for all ages. If you need a break and place to reset from the daily grind this is the sanctuary to do so. We enjoy the quiet to read and reconnect with family on the porch over a cup of coffee or a meal at the table. Our family enjoys playing card or board games or walks down to the river. We always come home refreshed! Abby is a gracious host who provides an inviting atmosphere for all to enjoy! We look forward to returning this Fall.

Delightful

The Getaway is a gem! Nestled among the pines with a meadow to view deer and other wildlife as you enjoy your morning coffee on the porch. The access to “The Getaway” is not complicated. When we arrived the front porch welcomed us to sit and relax. As we walked through the front door we felt calm and at peace. The decor and furniture is inviting and well appointed. The kitchen, fireplace, bedrooms and bathrooms had everything we needed for our three night stay.

Quiet and scenic

The cabin was quiet. There were no neighbors around during our trip. We watched the deer walk eat in the evening time. The kitchen had everything we needed for 2 dinners. The fireplace was big with plenty of wood. I am happy the owners rent this place for 2 night stays. Checking in and out was not complicated. Owners were easy to contact. We would stay here again.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Getaway as we ventured north during the holiday season. Cabin had everything we required including a big stack of firewood for the great fireplace setup. Our first time to this section of NM and we are already talking about returning in the summer months.

We absolutely loved our stay. We arrived during a bout of bad weather, so we spent most of our time in front of the fire and watching the deer, turkeys and the season's first snowfall from the magnificent sunroom. The hosts have thought of just about everything you could possibly need to make this a home away from home. 10/10 recommend!

Cute comfortable cabin in beautiful setting

Booked the cabin for work purposes which ended early. Enjoyed the cabin so much that I decided to stay for a few extra days to enjoy it. The cabin is very well appointed with pretty much everything you will need and then some. The front porch is perfect for relaxing and the fireplace was great at night. Highly recommend this cabin for a stay in Brazos.

The place was very nice, super clean and cozy. It had everything we needed for our stay. The communication was excellent and check in and out was super easy. The fishing was amazing! The river is a super close walk and was very scenic! I highly recommend and would definitely come back!

The Getaway is indeed a great Getaway!

My husband and I felt like we really got away from busy-ness to a peaceful, beautiful, serene neighborhood nestled far from the main highway in a tall pine tree area close to giant cliffs and the Brazos River. The cabin itself has a great 'personality' with small rooms for reading and painting, and larger rooms for sleeping. There is a huge, easy-to-use fireplace. The kitchen is large and well-appointed. We drank our morning coffee on the front porch and enjoyed seeing mule deer (somewhat tame), scampering chipmunks, and beautiful birds. Also, the cabin was very clean. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Cozy Cabin

Beautifully decorated, very clean cabin in the woods. We loved everything about it. But our favorite was the front porch. We enjoyed sitting outside in the cool air while watching the deer and taking in the gorgeous view.

The Getaway is a rare find - an opportunity to stay within walking distance to a good, long stretch of the Brazos River while being in a sophisticated and comfortable home. We came to fish, relax and enjoy the wildlife and it did not disappoint. The house is well-appointed and we did a fair amount of cooking - we love to cook - and all the tools we needed were handy. Since it was just the two of us, we used only the downstairs and it was so nice to have everything, including a lovely bedroom, on one level. The walk to the fishing area is not long - just across the street and down the hill. A good path system through the forest allowed us to try several fishing areas - where we did catch two fish! The surroundings are lovely - a view of the Cliffs that is just like a postcard. We saw lots of deer, which was great. An easy jump-off point to the lakes and Chama and more fishing available on the Chama River. Thanks for the lovely stay - we also loved the fireplace as the nights were wonderfully crisp.

Peaceful wilderness in Chama

The property was beautiful, extremely well kept, and very clean! There were all these amazing special touches such as fresh flowers in the vases, automatic candles for nighttime, and homemade dish ware! The river was very close, you could hear it relaxing out on the front porch! It was such a beautiful and relaxing environment and the best property that we’ve stayed in! I can’t rate it highly enough!

Wonderful Cabin

Me and my family booked this cabin to explore the Rio Brazos valley. The Getaway far surpassed our expectations. The hosts have thought about all the important details that make staying in the home very comfortable. The covered outdoor patio is a great space with incredible views of the cliffs. Fishing access is a 10 minute walk. I highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a place to stay in the Rio Brazos valley.

Unforgettable A-Frame Retreat

Our stay at this recently renovated A-frame cabin near Chama was pure bliss. The cabin itself is a delightful blend of modern comfort and rustic charm. It's spacious, well-appointed, and surprisingly equipped with blazing-fast internet - a rare find in such a tranquil setting. The location is a nature lover's dream. The Rio Brazos is just a stone's throw away for fishing enthusiasts, while Herron Lake and the vibrant state of Colorado are within easy driving distance. We spent our days exploring the great outdoors - from exhilarating river rafting to peaceful fly fishing and invigorating hikes. Evenings were pure magic. We loved sipping morning coffee on the front porch as the world slowly awakened. But the true highlight was undoubtedly witnessing the breathtaking sunsets over the majestic mountains. It's a sight we'll cherish forever. We can't recommend this A-frame cabin enough. It's the perfect escape for those seeking relaxation, adventure, and stunning natural beauty.
