We enjoyed sitting at the kitchen island talking and laughing. We appreciated the hot water, the water pressure, the toilet paper, and the easy checkout procedures. If booking this place, be aware that the stairway up to the front door is narrow making it difficult to carry a large suitcase (but not impossible). I also encourage you to find the noise machines and use them and/or bring earplugs.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The home is beautiful, historic and charming and it was clear that itâs been thoughtfully maintained. Everything was clean and well prepared on arrival and the space felt comfortable and welcoming throughout our stay. The home is in a great location, minutes to King St, yet it was quiet, making it easy to relax and get good rest. The beds and living areas were comfortable. If you enjoy a classic home with personality thatâs well cared for, this is a great place to stay, highly recommend. We definitely plan to stay here again next time we visit Charleston!
The house was clean and nice inside. There were a few things that were not mentioned in the description. The stairs leading up. to the place were very steep. It was also next to a school which woke you up in the back bedroom with the bell going off. It is next to an off ramp from a highway and is very loud if you want to sit on the porch. You can walk to King street in a few min but it is not the shopping part that you want to be at. We had to take Ubers everywhere. There is also a lot of construction in the area. This is nothing the host can do to make better. My daughter and daughter-in-law had a good time.
The host was available and communicated with us. The apartment had what we booked - three full bedrooms. However, There were no closets or hooks to hang our clothes in any of the rooms. We hung our shower towels on curtain tie backs and door knobs. While there was two bathrooms one was accessed through one of the bedrooms with the shower stall being in that guest room. The vrbo pictures showed large windows and a bright apartment The windows were virtually boarded up with inside shutters and heavy room darkening curtains. I believe this is where the bat came from in our apartment, after I had tried to open one of the curtains. I also believe that these were in place to help lessen the traffic noise from the divided highway that was directly in front of the âapartment with a scenic viewâ Beside the apartment was the facility entrance for a grammar school that had trash pick up and delivery starting at 6:45. We did not see any of this information when we booked our stay.
Host was great, communicated very well! House was clean and very cute. Great location for all downtown shopping and dining. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Nice location, historically fun place. Easy walk to many places. Very well stocked kitchen. Host was always available. Rare off street parking if you have a car. Very comfortable beds in all 3 rooms.
Well appointed, well maintained home. Comfortable beds. Clean. Safe neighborhood. Driveway (off street parking) which is hard to find in Charleston. Three fairly major issues for my family that put a huge damper on our stay. This property is a short walk to King Street (approximately 15 minutes)âŠâŠ.the end of King Street close to J Mitchell Science and Math Elementary. The lovely balcony is nicely appointed however we were unable to enjoy it due to intense noise levels from the roadway (17) and the smell from the two full size dumpsters directly next door. The noise from the roadway (17) was round the clock and so loud that sleeping in the front bedroom resulted in being awakened multiple times per night by air brakes from semis, sirens from ambulances and fire trucks. Nice home, well appointed, however did not work well for us.
We picked this location for location and pricing. We're 4 women who travel together, coming from different states. We really just wanted a place to sleep and shower and sit around at catch up when we're weren't being tourists in downtown Charleston. However, when we walked upstairs, we were blown away by the charm of the apartment. Every inch of historic charm has been lovingly preserved, while still giving us the modern amenities we "need". The beds were so comfortable with great linens. Kitchen was well appointed. There was room for all 4 of us to spread and and be comfortable. There is so much to fall in love with in every corner, it took us 2 days to realize there was a tv in our bedroom over the fireplace! I was lax in reading the check-in instructions, and our host was so patient with my ridiculous questions. The response time was almost immediately. So thanks for that!I don't know when I'll be in Charleston, but I hope to stay here again someday. Thank you for being a beautiful part of our vacation, not just a necessity.
We stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful place! It accommodated our family of 7 perfectly! Very well equipped, plenty of everything. The host was great at checking on us & staying
The house was not far from King Street, approx 10 minutes, when walking at a normal pace. The stairs leading up to the unit are very uneven and narrow.
From the nice quality linens, the shower toiletries, coffee filters/ coffee to bottled waterâŠour stay was very accommodating. Our host,
JP was friendly, helpful, and thoughtful.
We enjoyed close neighborhood coffee shops and easy/ quick walking distance to King St and downtown.
This property is feet away from a major thoroughfare and elementary school so itâs loud. Road noise is especially loud. The neighborhood isnât close to King street at all (not a 5 min walk as listed in property description) and is in a questionable neighborhood. My husband who runs every day didnât feel comfortable running there. We checked into a downtown hotel instead. The property owner refused to refund anything until I contacted VRBO and then he only gave a 20% refund. Very frustrating experience.
We loved this home. Very comfortable, plenty of room, well-equipped kitchen and outdoor space. Good location. Could walk to coffee shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.
