Clean room, good location. Not much within walking distance, but restaurants and the beach were just a short drive. Breakfast was not provided so we found a nice local coffee shop. Staff was friendly and helpful.
So happy as an annual visitor to the area to see new life breathed into this historic inn.
Stayed in the more modern section in updated rooms with pastel beach colors, AC , ceiling fan and tv.
The restaurant served delicious food , and the service is warm and welcoming.
Only wish there had been a mini fridge or a common guest fridge since there was no where to bring any leftovers from dinner. Coolers with ice are available but not really practical for bringing anything along for a breakfast since none is served and thereâs nothing within walking distance.
Would definitely stay again however.
A great addition for lodging that is more upscale than what is otherwise available in the area if not renting a beach house
The inn and restaurant were wonderful. I probably had the best hot lobster roll Iâve ever eaten. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and the beds were very comfortable. Only issues were we found a dirty sock on the floor in room 6, and when we went downstairs for coffee at 7am, there was no sugar and not enough creamer. Also, before dinner we went outside to sit on the 2nd floor deck, but quickly discovered that the area under the deck is where the smokers hang out. So it was a little unpleasant. All were minor things and wonât deter us from staying and/or eating there again!
We had a nice stay at General Stanton. Itâs a very cool old Inn with lots of character and was very clean. We checked in after hours so did not interact with any staff except over the phone but the remote check in process was still easy and we had no issues. Was a convenient and affordable stay for a concert in Matunuck.
This one is a bummer. The inn and tavern are amazing. Historic, preserved immaculately, cozy with warm toned woods and just an absolute vibe. Conversely the updated rooms that are outside the inn are sooooooo bad. They are not at all what youâd expect from a beautiful historic location. It literally felt like we were in a hospital room. It was sterile and cold feeling, with literally no life to the room at all. It was such a missed mark by the owners. If they just warmed those rooms up and kept it on theme with the rest of the place, this would be an A+++++ stay. As it is, the room was so cold and sterile we didnât stay due it home only being an hour away. Such a shame đ
Great location right in the center of Charleston. The hotel history was very unique. Had a fantastic sleep in the room. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Had a great dinner and also a breakfast for ourselves and friends in the morning. Grounds had a flea market that was fun to walk around. Will be back next summer!
