Messages I sent to host, recâd no replies.Wed pmHi Gerry. When you get a chance can you tell me how to get the ceiling fan on in the living room? Itâs a little stuffy & thereâs no air circulation.Otherwise, cottage is super cute & very clean!Thu amOr if it doesnât work is there another tower fan we could use downstairs to circulate air? Itâs very very stuffy.Fri amDesperately need a fan downstairs, Gerry! The one upstairs is necessary to keep the bedroom & bathroom tolerable.Fri pmThank goodness for one air conditioned room; otherwise this house would be intolerable itâs so hot. The TV in the air conditioned room has no signal so we can be cool but not entertained. Listing this house as âair conditionedâ is incredibly misleading. So much for truth in advertising, Gerry. Iâm extremely disappointed in the lack of response when I first requested instructions (23 hours ago) on activating the living room ceiling fan or to my additional messages requesting an additional fan. Sat amWeâve been using VRBO for nearly 20 years, but this is the first time weâve ever experienced an absolutely silent, non-communicative host. Extremely disappointed in the lack of response & the fact that the house was unbearably hot with the exception of one bedroom. Even that unit struggled to keep it cool but it was better than the rest of the house. This listing should not have âair conditioningâ on it. The review I leave will be truthful in hopes to warn future guests. Deceptive listing!
Washer and dryer were no working (we were informed that would be the case). AC is only in one room upstairs - downstairs would get pretty humid and warm during the day while we were out and about. The room with the AC would get quite cold when it was in use. Screen door onto deck didn't fir real well, but we could close it. Massage chair didn't work either (not a real issue, but thought you would like to know. Very nice place to stay, close to everything we did while up there.Steve Kile
Older cottage that has been restored very nicely. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. The outside was very spacious and soooo quite. You can walk to the beach and yet was very close to Charlevoix. Gerry was a great host and saw to our every need. Thanks
This lovely cottage in the town of Norwood is just a few shorts block with a quiet an idyllic beach. We had the best of life in a very quiet and idyllic town with the convenience of downtown Charlevoix just a short drive away. The hosts provided all the amenities we needed.
This is not just a comfortable house located in a quiet neighorhood, but it is also a beautiful house. Everything is first rate. It is the sort of house that feels like it is someone's home, with everything just as you would want it. The beds are comfortable, the linens plush. The house is small, but fine for us. Kitchen is a little small, but perfectly adequate. Eveeything is as described, in fact even exceeding my expectations. Really, this is a lovely piece of property.
perfect for a couple.
Second time to the cottage and want to come back next summer. Great Lake MI beaches nearby. Cottage is in a beautiful setting and is equipped with everything you need.đđ
Overall our stay met our expectations. We could do all the things we came to this area to do. The community âdog friendlyâ beach around the corner was an extra bonus. Plenty of linens and towels plus a supply of toiletries were available. Our only concern was the refrigerator never got down to the proper temperature, the freezer was fine though.
Cottage was super cozy. Very nice on the inside and location was private and quiet. Nice and relaxing and felt like home rather than a hotel. Enjoyed walking to the beach and house was located reasonably close to Charlevoix and Petoskey. My family had a great stay and enjoyed our time there. Did find communications with owner a little unclear. The number listed in the info binder was not up-to-date. And this is probably a personal preference but I did find the smell of the well water off-putting.
My family had a wonderful stay in the Charlevoix area -- hosts were responsive and helpful and the home was comfortable and well-apportioned. This was our second stay at the cottage and we would recommend it to anyone heading to the area.
You can tell a lot of love went into the design and decor of this lovely cottage. We were attending our daughterâs wedding at Castle Farms & we were on a hectic schedule, so we were in & out several times a day. However, we did find time to take wonderful walks down by the lake, even taking a cool dip in the lake waters in late September. Gerry was so kind. I will not go into the whole story, but he actually lent me his dress shoes when an unfortunate accident happened to my dress shoes right before walking my daughter down the aisle. It was a memorable week and this cottage fulfilled our needs very well.
Overall a very positive experience. There were a few maintenance items that I would have liked to have addressed, but nothing was a show stopper. Kids had a good time, and enjoyed playing with some of the toys that were included. Beds were very comfortable and bedrooms were spacious.
Very well organized with a binder listing all needed information. Clean, beautiful, and a gracious host.
Thank you for making our time in Charlevoix delightful!
The Cottage was very charming, tastefully decorated, and we loved it! The hosts provided everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfortable. There were nice views from all the windows, of the garden, flowers, trees, and greenery. The Lake Michigan beach
was nearby and wonderful. We will definitely be back next summer!
We had a fantastic stay at this cottage. We brought along our small dog and had no problems at all on the property- plenty of open spaces to walk her. The online pictures of the cottage and grounds are spot on. We used the toaster and the Sur La Table oven to make bacon, hot dogs, salmon, etc. The electric cooktop was perfect for scrambled eggs.
Very clean, everything we needed was there. Great communication with hosts. Gerry came by when we arrived to say hello and to make sure we were good. We do drive an EV car and he let us plug in to the outdoor outlet and we had no problems at all- no fuses blown as we kept the charge at the lowest level.
You can walk down to the shore but we decided to drive there- literally took 1 minute. They had beach chairs we could use in the closet, and we did do a couple of loads of laundry with no problems at all.
I would 100% stay here again. It was a lovely time! We really enjoyed our stay here.
Really enjoyed 2 nights at cozy cottage in Norwood. Wish we could have stayed longer. Lisa was easy to communicate with and answered questions I had. She left us goodies when we arrived! The cottage was very clean we would stay there again!
My husband and I were on the first leg of a six week trip. We absolutely loved the cottage. Lisa was very helpful and responsive. All the little treats were a great touch. Charlevoix is a quaint little town. We had so much fun exploring the area Tom and Deb
Wonderful unique and custom cottage that our fam of four loved. This area has so much to offer yet we were still drawn back to the comfort of the cottage. Photos donât do it justice, plenty of space, close to Antrim Creek Natural Area, breweries, Charlevoix, preserves, beaches, and a five minute walk to Lake MI. Host was wonderful, loved it all.
This property was a good jumping off point for our visits to Charlevoix, Torch Lake & Petosky. It shares the same driveway as the owners that live right next door. The beach was a reasonable walk from the house, very rocky but nice. Not a dealbreaker, but the screen door leading to the backyard was super difficult to work with. The sleeping arrangements work well for us and our 3 children.
We had an amazing time at the cottage. It was the perfect location for our little family. Our dog had plenty of room to roam in the beautiful backyard. We loved the cute little kids bed, and it was the perfect place for our 11 month old to sleep since we didnât have a crib. It was close to a quiet little beach area, a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive. We loved the feeling of being away from the city but still close enough to run into town for brunch or dinner. We made the 1.5 hour drive to see Mackinac Island and Sleeping Bear Dunes during our stay. Lisa and her dad, Jerry were the nicest hosts and we appreciated their hospitality. We canât wait to visit the cottage again. âșïž
Truly delightful stay! Lisa was very attentive to any need we may have had and was easy to reach throughout our stay. We have a 6- and 4yo, and loved saying hi to Boomer the friendly Golden Retriever across the way. We were very comfortable and everything was so pleasant. I even got a ton of cherries canned into cherry tomatoes ie filling. Lisa definitely deserves to be a super host!
