We rent a house on Lake Norman every summer, and although we knew the lake level was lower than usual, that did not affect this review.Before booking, I specifically confirmed the dock could accommodate our two jet skis. We were told yes, but upon arrival we found the raised dock had no available space because the pontoon boat occupied the only usable slip. We had to purchase anchors so our jet skis could remain free-floating in the water all week. I am requesting reimbursement for that unexpected expense.The location is great on a quiet cove, and the house was clean and comfortable. However, it lacked outdoor amenities. There were no floats or kayaks, very limited outdoor seating, no seating on the dock, and no chairs on the lower patio.The biggest concern was safety. There were well over 100 rusty construction nails scattered in the shallow water near the shoreline, likely from recent dock repairs. I spent over an hour cleaning them up to avoid someone stepping on one. We also found broken wine glasses with shards at the shore, making the shoreline unsafe at the start of our stay.The swim ladder also doesn't extend far enough into the water, making it difficult to climb out after swimming. Overall, the location was wonderful, but the dock misrepresentation and shoreline safety issues significantly impacted our vacation.
