Bar was extremely busy and it took some time for a member of staff to notice me stood there and to complete check in.
Also no heating in room other than a plug in heater.
Not good.
We arrived around 10 minutes early for check in, and were told to come back. They did offer to take our bags. Having looked at the website for the restaurant and food looked pretty good, so decided to eat in. I had the burger which was mediocre at best, and my wife had the fish and chips. The fish was greasy and overcooked, and the chips undercooked.. not nice at all. We booked a superior double room but little things let it down. The mattress was extremely soft and lumpy, if you wanted to use the plug sockets for the hairdryer you had to crawl under the dressing table. There was nowhere to hang a towel in reach from the shower, and nowhere to put your toiletries other than on the floor of the shower. The extractor in the bathroom was extremely noisy and stays on for at least 10 mins once turned off.
A better view from the window for a superior room, other than a brick wall would have been nice. We prepaid for breakfast and didnât really want to go but thought we would give it a go, again underwhelming. Will not be returning.
Our stay at the pied bull chester .Our stay was just what we expected clean , pleasent helpful staff, great food and a wide variety of drinks .shower was clean as were beds and carpets .
Food and drinks ridiculously over priced. Was advised a local park at ÂŁ8.80 overnight. Actually was ÂŁ16.50 overnight parking.
Itâs an old building and the section we stayed in had sloping floors.
Great central location for other bars and restaurants though.
This is a historic hotel inside the city walls in Chester. It was built in 1535. The lobby pub and restaurant were unique with great atmosphere. Elderly people will have great difficulty using the steep stairs to the 3rd level rooms, but we enjoyed this hotel greatly!!
Its been lovely . Staff were lovely .room was lovely .nice and quiet i was up stairs . Comfy bed . Fab shower i got there and was shocked i got a 4 poster bed . 4th stay here and each time diffrent room and they have all been lovely x
Stayed at The Pied Bull for 2 nights March 2025 & have stayed there a few years ago. Lovely hotel /pub with a warm comfortable atmosphere about it. Comfy bed, spotlessly clean, good facilitates. Good hearty full English breakfast. The staff are great & very welcoming.
Enjoyed their thursday night quiz too.
Location is perfect as right in the heart of historic Chester. Its near lots of shops, bars, restaurants. Easy access to the walls around Chester too. I would highly recommend staying there.
We only stayed for 1 night as we were attending a function in Chester. Did not spend much time in the pied bull. The room and service was exactly what we needed for our trip.
