The hotel is under new ownership. Main areas are clean and fresh looking. I’d booked a double room with river view. Tried calling before we arrived to ask if microwave in the room-1st time the call was just hung up on, I assumed it was an accident. Called back twice, no answer.
We arrived about 8pm. Sign at front desk said “closed”. Rang the bell, finally a couple emerged from a dark room behind the desk. Some d rugs seemed to be involved. I told her my name, she handed me a key. We had made 2 reservations, so asked if I could stay in the same room so didn’t have to move everything “no”.
I was traveling with my grandson and my dog. I always disclose my dog but since there was nearly 0 communication, I really didn’t have a chance. Got to our room, she’d put us in a single. Ugh. We made it work. There’s a pretty creek outback. The deck and stairs from 2nd level are in serious need of repair.
Leaving next morn, she saw my dog and confronted me saying she needed to know that ahead of time. Told her if she’d spoke more than 2 words to me she would have. She let me know she did me a favor by checking me in during her off time- her hours are 8am-6pm. (Not motel friendly) I told her she put me in a single room when I reserved a double. She said only 1 person was listed and I guess since I didn’t list 2 ppl she figured she could downgrade me??? Place is fine, still needs work, and definitely different managers. I xcled my 2nd reservation.
