The hotel is a relic, very well preserved. It's a delight to see the spaciousness of all the spaces and decorations, the mosaics on the walls, the marble staircase, and many other details. The only thing that's striking is the smell in the room every time you walk in, even if the air conditioning is on.

Rooms not ready an hour after check in time. Front desk kept telling people to come back in 25 minutes. They had no option to text when ready. Lots of people had to keep coming back in line to find out their room was not ready

The hotel is nice, very convenient. In general it is clean, and most of the staff is friendly. I didn't like that in one of the rooms, the handle door got stuck (I almost got locked in the bathroom), and every time I left the room I had to double checked the door closed properly. The other room was extremely cold and the hair dryer didn't work but it was replaced after a quick call and we got extra blankets. I liked that for every issue, there was a quick response.

While the hotel is old and a bit dated, it was clean and well-maintained. The staff was very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. The location is excellent—just a short walk to Soldier Field and close to many local attractions. The hotel also has a lot of interesting history, which added to the charm. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

The congress hotel is beautiful! A little out dated in some areas but our room was simple and clean. We were able to check our bags with the bellhop as our flight came in earlier than check in. We were also able to easily check in early and check out late without any issue and the flexibility was appreciated. The hotel is in the loop and easily walkable to most main attractions. There was a subway stop a few minutes from the hotel as well which we utilized frequently. We were in town for 2 baseball games and were able to easily get to them on transit, walking distance from the hotel. The hotel has a beautiful lobby and a charm about it that I loved. There were always people around in the main areas and I felt safe at all times. The only issue we had was the people in the joining room (not with us) were incredibly loud for most of the night. The walls are thin and we were able to clearly hear their conversations and TV at 0200. They were upset about buying the wrong size of dress… I do think if we had asked to move rooms though that it would not have been a problem, but we were all settled in. For the price and location I would recommend this hotel. The rooms were clean and safe and super close to all amenities! The park across the street is absolutely beautiful and we were lucky enough to be there during their summer concert series. And finally, as much as I would have loved it we did not experience any paranormal activity either :(

The hotel is an old classic hotel full of ambience. The staff is friendly, there just is not enough of them. My only issue was the parking. Hotel does not own nearest parking lot which is around the corner and behind the building. It is not an” in” and “out” parking lot. Hassle to park car after check-in.
