The check-in process described in the provided link was outdated. The lockbox for the key was behind a wooden panel, which was not mentioned. As a guest, I was hesitant to open things that did not belong to me. After communication with the host stalled, we eventually found the lockbox. I requested a phone call, but that never happened. Once we got the key and headed up to the apartment, we were stunned to find the cleaners still there 45 minutes past check-in time.
The first thing we noticed was the metal blinds in all the rooms, which made each room extremely hot due to the sun. Fortunately, our daughterâs room also had curtains to block out light. Most of the blinds were missing the long plastic piece to open or close them, so we had to use the one we did have on each blind. The paint in the apartment was thick and excessively brushed on doors and trims. The toilets ran every 15 minutes, which was a nuisance late at night. Additionally, the kitchen faucet would spray water out of the back if pulled up too high.
Despite having enough room, there were no dressers in any of the rooms. Our bedroom had a closet shelf with three of the six drywall anchors ripped out. However, the location was fantasticâclose to bus stops and the L train, very easy to get bus passes, and within walking distance to the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum. Overall, it was just an okay stay.
