The location was wonderful. My only reason I wouldnât stay again was the location of the outhouse. It was too far. Patrick was wonderful and easy to get ahold of.
Beautiful stay in McCarthy just outside of town. Cabin was exactly what we were looking for and the communication during our stay was great. Would absolutely stay here again!
If you are headed to McCarthy/Kennecott Alaska, you won't find a better homebase than the cabins at Fireweed Mountain Lodge. Patrick is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, and he couldn't have been more accommodating. We're only sorry that we didn't get to meet his wife and family on this trip. We certainly plan to return in the years to come!
We loved our stay in McCarthy. The cabin is spacious, clean and has a comfortable bed. Cooking is a bit of an adventure with all the mosquitoes flying around, but the cooking area is well equiped. The bathroom is very clean. Communication with Patrick and Amy was easy, they are very friendly and helpfull. They even met us use their bikes. We would definitely recommend this place if you're visiting McCarthy. The area is well worth a visit!
Lovely rustic cabin - so quiet & beautiful. Hosts were great. Bed was so comfy. This year there was a bumper crop of mosquitoâs, so bug spray is required. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a little gem located within walking distance of McCarthy. The cabins are beautiful and are perfect for day trips to Kennecott, Root Glacier and the mines. The owners are fabulous and friendly. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for Alaska relaxation and adventure.
Special time with adult children and grandchildren!
My husband ,grandchildren and myself were in 1 cabin and daughter-in-law and grandchildren were in another cabin. Lots of trips back and forth and cousins enjoying rare time together. Beautiful location with mountain scenery right out door. Hike to glacier starts in our front yard. Kids especially enjoyed little creek running thru property and had little boat races from one little footbridge to next. The communal cook area is very convenient if you are not planning on eating every meal out and is helpful because you do not have to haul cook stove and pots and pans in. Letâs face it , itâs work getting to McCarthy and if you are flying into AK you canât bring everything along.
Pat ,Amy and sons are easy to work with and helpful.
I canât forget the fire pit, grandkids loved it and grandpa and older kids kept it going whenever we were in camp. Camp is close to footbridge so convenient.
Great stay, bring bug spray.
Pack eye mask because it never really gets totally dark at night and if youâre visiting from lower 48 we are not use to that.
Thanks to Pat, Amy and boys.
This is a unique property near McCarthy. The host - Pat - was more than accommodating to several of our requests (such as to have some of us camp on the lawn next to the cabin). The property is beautiful and quiet. Pat was extremely welcoming and had all kind of useful advice about the area. You can tell the property is very well cared for with love put into it. The cabin was nice but basic (which is what we expected). Showers and flushing toilet are available in the main building and there are also outhouse options. The view from the Erie cabin was beautiful. You could hear the glacier calving in the distance, and the property was just far enough from McCarthy to be quiet during the July 4th celebrations. However, it is close enough to walk to town. I would 500% recommend this place if you're looking for a unique and wonderful stay in McCarthy.
