Great stay. We had a few issues (its an older house) but the property manager was responsive. The outside area and pool are lovely..maybe the cushions need more filling. The road up to the house is good but you have to drive through Ojochal Arriba where the road is in a poor state. Hopefully the municipality will work on it soon.

The house is very clean, comfortable, private and quiet. We saw many monkeys, birds, and various wildlife. Everything is maintained to perfection and the kitchen had everything you need to cook. Dawn was always available and was one of our best managers. We have traveled to Costa Rica for the last 10 years and stayed at many VRBO rentals but this is one of the nicest ones and we would return to this house again.

I have stayed in many VRBOs over the years and have a few favorites but this place is Top of my List now. It’s pure Magick. The interior of the house is even better than the pictures. But the outdoor space is incredibly peaceful-surrounded on all sides with beautiful plants and trees and the rainforest beyond. Not to mention the pool with swim up bar and so much privacy you can sunbathe and swim ‘au natural’. Just make sure you know the pool cleaners schedule LOL The owners have done an amazing job with the lighting and even have little tea light candles all around as well. No details were overlooked. I swear the Moon and the Stars are closer to us in Costa Rica and we had an excellent view of both at Bali Bali Bueno. The manager Dawn was responsive and gracious and the owners left a lovely basket of Costa Rican goodies as it was a celebration, and were very welcoming with direct contact ahead of time. I hope to be back sometime. Pura Vida!

There are no words to adequately describe Bali Bali Bueno. We stayed for a week and we will dream about it for the rest of our lives. The house was gorgeous!!!! We lived on the patio and in the pool. There is a wraparound deck on the second floor where you can view sloths and toucans. We had a howler monkey alarm every morning. It was magical. Dawn the house manager was there to greet us upon our arrival and the house was decorated for my 50th birthday. It was a trip of a lifetime. We're already planning our next stay.

La maison est trĂšs belle , trĂšs confortable et trĂšs calme . Facile d’accĂšs en 4x4. Rien ne manque, tout est Ă  disposition, ce qui est rare dans une maison de location. Magnifique verdure Ă©galement ! Au dĂ©but de l’entrĂ©e d’ojochal, supers magasins pour faire ses courses , trĂšs pratique et bon !!! La plage pinuelas a 6 km est sublime et la sortie en bateau pour snorkeling depuis Sierpe trĂšs bien ! Le mari de Dawn avait fait de magnifiques bouquets dans les piĂšces de la maison. Nous avons passĂ© une semaine absolument dĂ©licieuse ! Merci Ă  Andrea et Ă  son mari de nous avoir fait profiter de ce superbe endroit !!!

The home is just beautiful, exactly as pictured and we had a wonderful time. The concierge met us at the home to help us settle in, provided us with immigration letters and great recommendations for activities and a fantastic chef /caterer that we scheduled to prepare us dinner for our wedding anniversary. It was magical.The location was more difficult to get to than we had anticipated, it was over a mile off road and even with a 4x4, it was nerve racking driving up the hill especially in the dark after the few times we went out for dinner. An ATV would have been a better option but we had traveled from San Jose so we could stay at other locations during our trip. However just down the hill from the house was a spectacular waterfall. One other thing we weren’t expecting but were told upon arrival is the likelihood of losing power which happened a few times, however the home has solar panels so a lot of things like lights, fridge etc are still working fine. Lots of easy day excursions and beach options. Would highly recommend to anyone.

You won't regret staying here!

We stayed at Bali Bali Bueno for 8 nights. We spent many days just lounging by the pool watching the birds and lizards. The pool and outdoor space are what really made the property wonderful for me. We found the casita a little warm for sleeping without AC, so we all ended up staying in the main house. It really depends on your comfort level without AC. The temps are likely tolerable for many people - 80s during the day, 70s at night. Dawn was super responsive and helpful. The power went out once while we were there, and her husband came by to reset the breakers (which worked!) when it didn't come back on after some time. The solar power backup is a great asset for those pesky power outages (common in Costa Rica). Overall 5/5. We'd stay here again!

A secluded sanctuary

A comfortable, secluded, and secure retreat in the rain forest above Ojochal. Everything worked well, including the air conditioning, power and solar backup, hot water, and barbeque. The property manager was welcoming, informed, and very responsive to all our questions. Surprising benefits were the proximity of a well-appointed supermarket, and high-end shops in Ojochal, including deli, juices and smoothie bar, bakery, restaurants, and more (we didn’t know anything about these going in). But what we loved most were the birds and butterflies, which were diverse, abundant, and in-your-face, because the forest is close on all sides. There is a walkway under the eaves around the upstairs bedroom, giving 360-degree viewing at canopy-level. There is also excellent birding above and below along the unfrequented access road, meaning one doesn’t have to drive. But other habitats are accessible within half an hour’s drive, including the beach (can you tell we’re birders?). Shockingly few bugs for early wet season in the tropics – how come? Overall, our stay was relaxing, and full of delights and wonders. What more do you need?

Jungle Paradise

We had a wonderful 6 weeks at Bali Bali Bueno. It was quiet, which suited us fine. The rustic house is cool so no need for ac while we were there, although there are airconditioners in the bedrooms. The staircase to the upper level is interesting and so due to our mobility issues we stayed downstairs. Our friends stayed in the casita and loved it, especially the view from their bedroom and the outdoor shower, The pool is lovely and well maintained. The outdoor area was the highlight with the comfortable seating and lots of covered space so that you could escape from the sun. The road in is rough in parts, so a 4x4 is essential. We did miss the convenience of a dishwasher. We hope to return.

Amazing Property!

We had a fantastic time at Andrea's house! We did have a rough three days to start with due to the bulk of the time being in a power outage (and the solar running out of power), but that is life in the jungle I guess, and totally out of Andrea's hands!The area is lovely; you're a 10 minute drive away from the best food in the area (Ojochal restaurants beat out Uvita and Dominical restaurants every day), a 35 minute drive away from great surfing, and a short drive away to do many of the other activities in the area (beaches, waterfalls, hikes).We spent a ton of time just hanging out in the pool as well. We ended up with a kid with strep throat on our trip, and managed to communicate with the pharmacy down the road via WhatsApp to get a diagnosis and medicine, probably more efficiently than we would have back at home in Canada. The air conditioning and nice lounge areas throughout the home were much appreciated with him being stuck there a good chunk of our trip. The beds were comfortable (firm!), the tap water being drinkable, the tv upstairs in the bedroom and comfy lounge areas outside were all nice aspects that go a long way on vacation. The outdoor shower was maybe my fave part of the trip!We've been to Costa Rica quite a few times now and this was one of our top houses for sure!

The pictures of this place are incredible, right? Somehow, they still do not manage to do it justice. Incredible home, incredible property, incredible location. Dawn (the property manager) met us upon arrival, made sure we had everything we needed, and remained available to answer any last minute location-specific questions that our group had. Thank you, Dawn! We had no issues with anything at the house during our stay. Water worked properly, pool was clean, and the propane tanks were full. Thank you, Andrea & Derek!

Incredible experience at Bali Bali Bueno!!

Hard to put into words how magical our stay in Ojochal was! This beautiful house accommodated our group of 6. Every room had something special to offer. The house is clean and beautifully decorated. Our fav spot to hang was surely the outdoor area. The scenery is unlike anything we had ever experienced. Beautiful views from every angle. We saw (and heard) howler monkeys and toucans every day. Going to sleep and waking up to the sounds of Costa Rica was amazingly therapeutic. Property manager was a huge help - Dawn went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a 10/10. We will cherish our memories at Bali Bali Bueno for a lifetime.

Pura Vida at Bali Bali Bueno

For a relaxing 2+ week vacation with 2 teenage boys, our search prioritized multiple options for both indoor and outdoor hangouts. Bali Bali Bueno, surrounded by the beauty and sounds of nature, was the perfect place for our family to spread out and come together! The property was fully equipped with everything we needed!! The games, puzzle and boogie boards were definitely a bonus for this family. The outdoor shower was pure bliss. And I personally appreciated being able to reference the Costa Rica Wildlife brochure. Andrea's extensive welcome guide offered an abundance of helpful resources. Both she and Dawn checked to make sure we were comfortable during our stay. In addition to many local restaurants and waterfalls, we enjoyed several beaches, surf lessons, jet ski and atv tours, and Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio. I highly recommend Bali Bali Bueno and wouldn't hesitate to visit again!

Relaxing getaway

What a beautiful property! We stayed for two weeks and it was exactly what we thought it would be: relaxing and fun. The pool is awesome and was the highlight of our stay. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could want, even a blender! There was enough coffee to get us through our stay in the fridge which was very appreciated! The owner provided a beautiful welcome basket and a very detailed and helpful welcome guide that included an extensive list of restaurant options, tours, waterfalls, beaches and more. She even brought a pack ‘n play for our toddler so we wouldn’t have to share a bed. The property manager was incredibly communicative and helpful and it was apparent that both she and the owner cared about the quality of our experience. The only thing we had to be super cautious of while having a toddler was the open stair case. Other than that we had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much!

Beautiful unique home nestled in the mountains

Beautiful unique home nestled in the mountains almost touching the clouds. In an awesome neighborhood. Very private and beautiful views. Higher elevation, cooler temp compared to the beaches which are a short drive down the mountain. Tagua is a must for coffee, trust me. I am in the coffee business and this is the coolest and greatest coffee shop that exists. Ojochal is such a beautiful and unique little town surrounded by the most lush jungles and beaches. Andrea and Derek, the owners are fantastic people and great communicators always willing to help. Dawn and Steve are also great local hosts! You will for sure enjoy your stay. Your chance to embrace and connect with nature at its finest. The pool. The views. The vibes.
