The property itself was quite nice, offering a tranquil location that made for a peaceful getaway. The setting provided a great escape from the hustle and bustle, allowing for relaxation in a serene atmosphere. However, there were a few notable drawbacks. The interior had a lingering smoky smell, which was less than ideal and detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, while the space was generally comfortable, it wasnât as clean as it could have been. Some areas felt like they needed more thorough attention. One concerning detail was the presence of ant and mice traps by the sink. Not exactly what I wanted to find as I was washing dishes and made me wonder how many issues theyâve had. Overall, while the location and structure of the property were appealing, the cleanliness and maintenance could use some improvement to enhance the guest experience.
I celebrated 40 years since my Penn State graduation with my senior college roommate at this cabin just a couple miles from Poe Valley State Park. It was a nice peaceful setting near a small stream. The cabin had everything we wanted. Liked the screened-in porch and the recliners (we're getting old). You do need to drive a few miles of dirt roads to get to this area, but the cabin is along a paved road near a small village of cabins just outside the state parks of Poe Valley and Poe Paddy. Plenty of hiking opportunities in a short drive.
We went to the Penn State spring game and spent time fishing, exploring the parks and the area. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin everything was clean and cozy. We plan on using the cabin in the future! Thank you for hosting us.
Great place only complaint is vrbo directions take you to nowhere be sure to put adress of cabin in your gps before heading out since cell signal isnt that good on the roads to cabin
Found this location while looking for a last minute place to call home for the weekend. Itâs about a 40 minute scenic drive through the mountains from state college. The property and house were clean and inviting. Everything was as described. We will look to stay on future visits.
We stayed at this cabin over PSU whiteout weekend and were impressed with the condition and size. This is a rare instance where the actual place is better than the photos! There is a fully stocked kitchen and a comfortable family room. The location is very quiet and there is plenty of screened in porch area to relax outside. The host was very responsive and timely with the door code and some questions I had.
A few points that were not a concern for us but could be for others:
- It is very far off the beaten path. It is 5 miles back an unpaved mountain road (coming from either the west or north). It is about 35 minutes from State College.
- The upstairs bedroom is open (loft) so doesnât offer full privacy.
- There is a TV but only Prime Video and YouTube (and DVDs). Shouldnât be a problem for most people, especially since there is solid WiFi.
Overall, it was a very good value, especially on a game weekend!
Overall, a nice place to stay. Coffee on the screened porch was awesome and relaxing. You have to drive quite a ways thru the state park to get to the house, on gravel roads. We didnât have any issues other than there is no service, so screen shot your directions or be sure your gps is set well in advance for going and leaving the property.
We were so grateful to have this space to celebrate our son/brother as he was a groom-to-be! Other than a little mixup with the entry code, the stay was terrific! Peaceful surroundings and nice (and clean) cabin. Property owner kind and responsive. Not great cell reception in area (be prepared) so perfect get-away spot! Thank you!
I booked Lydiaâs cabin for a short trout fishing trip for 3 of us guys. We were blown away by the accommodations, especially the two screened porches and the ample supplies of coffee pods, paper products, and charcoal for the grill.
There was a little mix up on the door entry code, but other than that everything was excellent. I would definitely book again.
