We were supposed to be in the US Virgin Islands but had to scuttle the trip (at a huge financial loss) because of a medical emergency. Some quick research on Vrbo led us to this oceanside gem (that didn't require air travel...) just north of Corolla in the Ocean Hills neighborhood. The house can easily accommodate 6 adults and 6 kids - there are bedrooms and bathrooms everywhere plus enough common spaces to let a crowd spread out and not be in each other's way every minute of the day. The kitchen is large and wonderful, but the knifes are dull, as is the case in every house that we have rented to date through Vrbo (I brought my own set...). The one safety issue was storm damage to the bottom steps leading down to the beach. We notified the property managers early on and this should be repaired by the time this review is posted. Ocean Hill has the best of both vacation worlds in mind - right on the beach with amazing views that go on forever and plenty to do for those afternoon rainy hours. A half mile from beach driving and yet close to several shops, restaurants, and groceries. Sooooooo relaxing!
Home was spacious with lots of options for shared spaces. Nice island kitchen - great dining room table to seat all. Loved that there were so many bathrooms. The beach access was fantastic & we really enjoyed the decks overlooking. We did feel that the home needed a deep cleaning ie ceiling fans & that providing a few coffee filters would be appreciated! Some character had swapped around all the Roku remotes so it took some time to figure out why TVs wouldnât work. I would suggest labeling the remotes đ overall a great place though.
Few problems most were taken care of. The biggest issue needing address in the bottom step of steps to beach is way too high a drop. Garbage was left from previous renters
This home was as described great location and it was the cleanest house we've ever stayed in when we come to corolla..we would definitely book this home again the only thing I recommend are tvs in ask the bedrooms and some softer mattresses
We are a group of 7 friends who travel a lot together. This house served our needs and we had a good time. The rooms were comfortable, some with good views of the sunrise. We cooked breakfast every day and made dinners 2 nights. The kitchen had most of what we needed. Good amount of cups and plates and utensils. The windows could have been cleaned to afford better views from inside, but we lucked out with warm weather so we were outside on the deck more than we thought we would be. The hot tub had been serviced the day we arrived. Access to the beach is a simple walk down the stairs. Al communication with Vacasa was professional and they always responded quickly. We also enjoyed a few games of pool! We would stay here again.
This was the best vacation that we have ever had! The house was very clean, spacious, and the private pool and hot tub was a great accommodation. My kids absolutely loved it! The house is in a nice location and it is convenient to the wild horse tours and the historic village of Corolla. Also, the house is right on the beach with fantastic views and the sunrises were amazing every morning. I would highly recommend this home and we will definitely be booking it again!
Was disappointed in the cleanliness. Also called property manager and never got a response. Only 1 TV worked in the house. Our family of 13 had fun. For the price would have expected better customer service.
First of all, the property provided all of the promised amenities and they are numerous. It was exactly what we hoped for in terms of location, sleeping accommodations and furnished household items.
Maintenance, however, left something to be desired. The quality of the interior could best be described as âearly Motel 6â. The upholstered furniture is long overdue for replacement (or a very deep cleaning at a minimum). Approximately 50% of the outdoor seating was broken and/or unusable, including a bar that had been zip tied to the deck to replace the rotted nails. Burnt out light bulbs, unfinished interior walls and screens missing on all but 1 of the windows facing the beach; one screen slider among the 4 or 5 patio doors. You get the idea. The biggest problem, however, was the clogged drain on the fridge that caused all the evaporation and defrosting liquid to drip into the refrigerator compartment ruining several food items. We mopped it up daily.
So, if you can overlook the cosmetic issues described above And focus on the setting, you should enjoy this place.
This is a great home in an upscale neighborhood. We loved that it is right on the beach - a private beach at that! Great amenities from the beach access to the pool, hot tub, and billiards/gameroom. The views of the legendary OBX sunrises were spectacular!!! We were so pleased with this home and our stay.
We had an awesome family vacation at Beach Haven in Ocean Hill.! The house was in a wonderful location, the private beach access was definitely a bonus, and having a pool to enjoy as well was delightful. We would definitely return again! We have 3 adult children and had plenty of room for all of us and more! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the back of the house and the pool chairs could have been cleaned better before our arrival. There were a lot of bugs and spiders on the back of the house that could have been hosed off. We could not reach the hose up there or we would have. The other issue was a hissing noise in the upstairs hall bathroom off the family room area. It had something to do with the seal on the pump in the toilet. We called the property management and spoke with someone about the incident at the beginning of our stay. They were responsive and said they would fix it, but they never came to fix it for the duration of our week stay. My husband and I were sleeping in the upstairs master and had to make sure we kept that bathroom door closed to try to muffle the noise outside our room. And you could hear it into the family room. The electronics could be a little updated. Had to hook up a laptop to watch Netflix on the TV at night. Otherwise, the home was very nice, in a great location, and our family vacation was definitely one to remember!! Thank you Beach Haven đ
This home is absolutely beautiful. There was more than enough space for eight people. The pool area was wonderful. It has very easy access to the beach. This house is not accessible for people with physical needs. There are stairs upon stairs upon stairs and no elevator. We have never stayed in the Outer Banks before but I think stairs are very typical. It was great being so close to the wild horses!
Amazing view. Great location. Literally on the beach.
Overall decent house...slightly dated but didnt choose it for the furnishings. Essentially the best view of any house I've seen in the outer banks and plenty of space for family and friends. Pool was great. Hot tub was perfect. And access to the beach is about 15 whole seconds away. No public access so space was essentially unlimited. Beach was sandy except at low tide then was a little shelly in the surf.
House had all the essentials including extras like games, beach chairs, and other pool/beach stuff.
Recommendations for improvement:
1. Bigger TV in main room
2. Increase wifi connectivity. The main BR on middle floor contains the router which doesn't really reach a lot of the house...especially the basement theater room which definitely should be connected. For example, a ps4 wont connect.
3. Upgrade the grill. Difficult to grill for a large party with a small/medium-sized charcoal grill.
Seriously beautiful view.
