I honestly understand how this hotel got a 9+ rating. The common areas are nice, but the room smelled SO musty/mildewy. I would have complained, but I was too exhausted to change rooms. My second and last disappointing stay at an Ayres property :(

Parking should be included in each night stay. Wouldn’t bring us a cot to use. Clean property and rooms overall. Could hear planes taking off as it was so close to the airport runway.

One thing I asked was about coffee on the room… “Yes, yes, yes” they said. But morning 1, coffee maker did not work. Upon leaving for the day, I requested a replacement and was told, “Yes, we will replace it.” But they did not. No coffee in the room x 2 mornings. And there was daylight coming through the door jam without a proper seal. Abhorable!

Busy weekend for check-ins

We got there early, hoping for early check-in or at least to be able to enjoy the pool until 3pm but was turned away. It was 4th of July weekend and they were busy. Came back at 3pm and the room still wasn’t available. We wound up downgrading our room to get in but still paid the higher fee. Once inside, the property was awesome and everyone was amazing!

THE AYRES FAMILY DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITY AND SAILING IN SOUTHERN CA IS SHOWN IN AN AMAZING COLLECTION OF SHIP MODELS, PHOTOS AND MEMORABILIA. THE ROOMS ARE LOVELY. Late check in

When we arrived our room was not ready. The girl at the front desk basically said we were late and other guests beat us to check-in and the type of room we booked would not be ready until 5:30pm. Check in is at 3pm and we arrived at 2:30pm. I asked how could we be late, in which the receptionist said that other guests had checked in days prior or requested early check in that day. There was no apology and we were made to feel like it was our fault. We waited at the hotel restaurant for 1:30 hours. The least they could have done is offer complimentary meal/drinks or free parking, which used to be free. I will note that they offered us another room that was supposedly an “upgrade”. The room we booked is the most expensive room they offer.
