We enjoyed our weekend at the cozy cottage on the Cumberland gap. The only thing I would improve on is the bed that is very creaky. Also communication was minimal. I couldnât see the links given in the message and the hosts didnât respond to my question. All good though because it was just as pictured.
We hiked up to Tri-State Peak and had a fun time just being together with family. Lots of time for board games and sitting around the fire pit enjoying sâmores. Only issue was with overflowing and overturned garbage can. Host responded quickly and trash was picked up off ground but can remained full from previous guests so we had to keep our trash inside.
We enjoyed the small town of Cumberland Gap. The house was nice. Full size mattress is uncomfortable but I have arthritis, so that added to my discomfort. The kitchen is huge!! Lots of room for our supplies we had w us. A kitchen footstool would be great as plates are really high for a short little me to reach. I would stay here again.
We enjoyed staying in the historic district of Cumberland Gap and walking to local hiking spots. The house is clean and well maintained, with plenty of kitchen supplies.
The house is charming, a 1920s Craftsman style, with antique pieces mingled in with more comfortable modern furniture.
We loved this property because we appreciate old towns. We liked the slow pace but with great options for nearby great food. House is as described however IGA is in Harrogate about 5 min away by car and the Dollar store is 6 to 7 min away. The hosts respond within min to text or questions which was wonderful. We will visit this property again.
Pros: I love the location. Had it not been raining, I could have walked from the house to anywhere downtown. It's very close to the arts center. The kitchen is well equipped for making and serving meals. The house is decorated tastefully. Cons: I could not text or call from the property even with wifi. I had to drive a short distance down the road to get a signal. The washing machine has long cycles even for a quick wash. The owner wants you to wash and dry all towels before departing. I recommend bringing your own towels to use for departure day because you likely won't have time to finish a load before checkout that morning.
Overall, the stay was great!
The property was much more spacious than expected. A short five minute walk to anything we wanted to do in Cumberland gap and a short five minute drive to the graduation ceremony at LMU. We could not have asked for a better location or more peaceful setting.
We had a couple of small issues however the host provided excellent communication and I would have no issues with staying here again. The 2 bedroom house would be better suited for a traditional family of 2 adults with two kids. Since we had 4 grown adults in a 2br 1 ba I have no one but myself to blame for needing to wait in line to get a shower (haha). We loved sitting out on the front porch enjoying the quiet and peaceful sounds of nature. Itâs an older home with an updated kitchen and bath. Overall we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The smell in the house was horrible. It was very musty. We could not stay in the house. The bed was also so noisy and uncomfortable that it could not be slept in. We did not stay in the house and had to find a hotel
