As a first time bnb guest, I loved it. James and Connie were very welcoming and made for great conversation during breakfast with the other guests. So much history in the house and area. We spent most of our time in Abingdon - antiquing, dining, and the barter theater. Apparently there's much to discover in Damascus for next time though! We valued the private bathroom in the honeymoon suite, but FYI does not have a shower just a tub, but there was a public shower down the hall. Thanks guys for a great time!
Delicious large breakfast made by friendly and welcoming owners, served family style. Eclectic furniture and antiques initiated good conversation and interesting stories. The Honeymoon Suite was large and the bed was very comfortable. The en-suite was nice and clean but itâs important to note there is no shower. You can use the shower downstairs or use the included bath. Not a big deal unless you want to wash your hair. The grounds could be lovely but are somewhat dilapidated and very much need attention. A nice stay overall.
I enjoyed my stay at the Millsap Baker Estate. The room and bath were very clean, and the atmosphere was peaceful. I learned alot about the history of the estate and Damascus from the owners.
The four-bedroom house was well appointed; the kitchen is huge. Get the Honeymoon suite if you can it's immense! The c.1880s decorations in the B&B are impressive. The broad back deck is very large. Access was easy and convenient. Laundry on the first level.
James' breakfasts are to die for, especially the hot biscuits and sausage gravy. James grew up here and knows all to be known. It's within a mile of downtown Damascus and across the street from a supermarket. Very convenient in all ways. Hiking trails, including the AT and Virginia Creeper are next door as is a cross country biking route. I was here for the AT's annual Trail Days celebration.
We loved the kind and courteous owners. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The food was excellent. Very sweet and happy owners. We will definitely stay here again.
James and Connie are wonderful hosts. We had refreshing conversation and yummy breakfasts. The MB Estate is in need of some TLC but is lovely and something fascinating awaits at every nook and cranny. The honeymoon suite is expansive and well appointed. We highly recommend a stay at MB Estate!
I had a beautiful stay at the Millsap-Baker Estate B&B. When I arrived, there was a note telling me to how to find my bedroom. It also told me about snacks and drinks that were available, as well as the time for breakfast in the morning. There was the phone number for the owners for any needs. The covered porch was a very peaceful place to rock I. The rocking chair and watch the birds. I sat and read my book for quite a while. Every room is decorated with amazing antique furniture! The bed was super comfortable! The shower had great water pressure. There were 3 other couples there at the time but I had no idea until the next morning, because it was so quiet. The home is located very close to the beautiful town of Damascus and the Virginia creeper trail so there are many activities if you like to hike the AT, bike the creeper trail or fish in the creek. I hope to come back again and bring my family!
