My daughter and I found the perfect place to get some R&R before she headed off for college. My father passed away the week before, and it was absolutely perfect timing in the most exquisite location in Coastal Georgia. The Thicket Cottage is more than we ever dreamed it would be. Our souls found peace and quiet as we rocked on the front porch or relaxed in the swing daybed overlooking the exquisite marsh. From the moment we drove in the driveway and laid our eyes on this historic piece of property, we absolutely treasured soaking in all of the unique 200 year-old materials in this simply beautiful home. From the wine and charcuterie board upon arrival to the peaceful sunrises out over the unobstructed marsh view, to catching big ole crabs, to listening to the Kingfisher serenade us, it was simply incredible. We used this as a fabulous jumping off point and explored northward through all of the little fishing villages and communities. We even took the ferry out to Sapelo Island one day and explored the Estuarine research reserve. It was also close enough to pop over to St. Simons to shop and to grab some delicious seafood. We have a new and deep appreciation for this Coastal area. Emma's Driftwood Farm is a treasure. It was perfect for the two of us, however, I can't wait to bring a bigger group back to stay in some of the other homes on the property. The oak trees heavy with moss, the Adirondack chairs at the fire pit, and the wild peaceful marsh were spectacular.
This house was wonderful. We enjoyed our time so much in this beautiful 200 year old home. Already trying to figure out how to go back! Clean, updated, and very responsive property manager! Highly recommend.
We loved our stay at the Thicket Cottage. Communication with our host was smooth, the house itself was incredibly clean and well laid out, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything youâd ever need for cooking. Not to mention, it is an absolutely gorgeous location. Great for families. Our kids loved it. We hope to go back!
We had such a fun time at the Thicket Cottage! It was nice to relax and fish. There was a crab trap and we caught dinner (8 crabs). The oyster house provided a great space for a festive family dinner and crab boil. The main house was full of character and charm. We really appreciated the Southern hospitality provided by host Emmaâs Driftwood Farm (next door manager). The fresh eggs, cornbread mix, charcuterie plate, etc. were a thoughtful touch. We would definitely come back if ever in the area. Thank you!
