Property has no walkable distance to beach as advertised. Difficulty getting check in instructions. Property was nice, but need cleaning supplies and vacuum bags. Overall nice.
We enjoyed a five night stay at Oleander. There are two different buildings next to each other that are each split into four units. We enjoyed our stay. The unit was overall clean and had almost everything that we needed. It was comfortably furnished and the kids enjoyed the bunk beds. It was spacious enough that we could do family games together and everyone could also have their own space. There are lots of activities to do on the island and they are all a short distance away. FYI you can walk to the beach, but it will be around a 20 minute walk. If you go to the three main beaches during the day hours you will have to pay for parking. One unusual thing that occurred was another family was in the unit that we were expecting to be in. That family had mistakenly gone to our unit and had received a code to get in. We were able to work it out, but it was an unexpected issue. We had a toddler, but unfortunately the unit did not have a high chair. The barstools were not safe to put our booster seat on so we had to figure out another solution. You will also want to bring your own coffee. There was a coffee maker, but not coffee provided. The only other issue is that mosquitoes around the units are pretty bad. The buildings are located in the forest, so that is to be expected. I would recommend bringing some strong bug spray since we got bit numerous times on the walk between the car and the unit.
We enjoyed the spacious and fresh accomodations. This property was well-designed with room for all. It's a decent walk to the beach, but doable (We mostly drove to different ones). Dauphin Island is great for those seeking a less touristy coastal getaway. Solid communication from the management team, too!
Perfect location and accommodations. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans and utensils. Convenient covered parking. Close to the beach, shops and restaurants.
The property was wonderful! It was clean and easy to access. We did have wifi problems which can be expected in an island and everything was addressed and resolved and was good communication. They are fabulous hosts & we would stay here again.
Being a low lying island, almost everything on Dauphin Island is on stilts. That meant we parked under the house and out of the sun. There are plenty of steps so you will get your cardio in.
On the last day as we were packing up, it rained so we were thankful they had umbrellas in the basket by the door.
We did a Sunday to Friday trip at the end of September through first of October. We were in unit C and the only ones in the 4-plex for most of it.
The place is on a quiet side street though the whole island is pretty quiet from our first experience.
The unit itself was well equipped and looked like it was nearly new. The big, open kitchen and living room were where we spent most of our time. Since it was just the two of us and our pup, we didn't use the other two bedrooms and bathroom but they were also setup well.
The master bedroom with the king bed and the bathroom was a great space.
The washer and dryer worked well and we had an easy time taking home clean clothes.
The WiFi was strong in the whole unit so we had no problem uploading pictures and getting emails.
We did not use the grill but two were available for the 4-plex. They also had two sets of cornhole boards.
All in all, nice unit, nice area and relaxing vacation.
We had an amazing time at this condo and island. The apartment is beautiful. Would love to have had a little easier time communicating. The messaging through the app came back to the email instead of the app. Wasnât a big deal though. We had a great stay!
