It's an old Victorian mansion converted to a hotel, felt a bit like a B&B. Beautiful old building with a nice parlor that we enjoyed, way more interesting than the usual boring motel/hotel. They have a wine bar downstairs in the afternoons which is fun. Location is great with excellent restaurants, pubs, and bakeries nearby. It's a bit loud outside on weekend nights but we turned on the AC fan and slept great. Our room's carpet was kind of old, maybe it's time to replace it... otherwise everything was clean and the huge elegant bathroom was amazing. Next time I'm in Dayton we'll stay there again!
2 rooms above a wine bar, good location, turntable
Loved the 1887 house, the big wooden doors, the staff, that it's above a wine bar (where you can bring your own food), all around very charming. Great location as well, near good restaurants and record stores. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars was the mattress - not to my taste as it was very hard. Mattress preference is a personal matter and for me it was the one negative. Oh, and they have a turntable and a box of pretty good records, a nice bonus!
The problem is that I was searching for a place I could cook. I used Expedia's filter for kitchen. This place popped up, but it had no stove top or oven - then it's not a kitchen. It had a microwave and a micro fridge that badly needed defrosting. It did not have microwavable cooking materials, so could not even make rice. Even the cheapest motels usually have a microwave and a mini fridge, and this place was not cheap. It did have a lovely eating area, but what good is that if you can't cook? The staff on duty said that it had a "kitchenette, not a kitchen. But Expedia said it had a kitchen. Because of my complaint at the very beginning, I did not want to socialize in the otherwise nice rooms and in the wine bar - off to a bad foot when you complain.
Everything was pleasant and nice, except for the thermostat. It was pretty hot inside and it took hours to cool down. Convenient location. Spacious. I like the record player.
The property is unique and very convenient to the Oregon neighborhood. The on site wine bar was amazing and the en suite hot tub was perfect after a long day with a lot of walking. Loved the reserved parking right next to my private entrance. It is a busy neighborhood with a bar nearby, so there was some street noise late in the evening but I was warned about this at checkin.
Unique two room inn with antique vibe attached to a wine bar. Friendly, accommodating hosts. Funky neighborhood in a district allowing you to carry drinks outdoors. Large common space. Big bathroom. Carry your own luggage up stairs. You'll get a personalized parking space.
Great location as we were there for Univ of Dayton graduation weekend. Nice room although dated clean and comfortable. Love the assigned parking and self serve braskfasy.
This is a quirky, pleasant house. The service is fine. Room was clean. All good. I think it would be a fine place to stay Sunday through Thursday. But the big problem for me was extreme noise from the street. The Inn is just off the main drag of the Oregon district- Daytonâs nightlife zone. I stayed there Friday and Saturday. Both nights I was awakened and kept awake by extremely loud street noise (revving engines, room-shaking car stereos.) Itâs a shame. Otherwise, Iâd recommend it. Good place for folks who enjoy nightlife?
Awesome old(Victorian?) building. Spacious room & spacious bathroom. Most of the decor appears to be antique. Could use a little sprucing up but, overall a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and treated us like family instead of visitors.
Nice old house with lots of character. Host was great. Wine bar was pleasant. Good food in neighborhood. Extra drinks & snacks in the common area were very handy.
"area around property" was only 4/5 stars simply because we do not drink and this is predominately a wine/bar community. We loved the huge Victorian house--the room, the common room, dining area--all of it. The house is in the Oregon District, which is a little upscale village with antique shops, pubs and moderate to upscale dining. With my OCD I am never comfortable in a hotel, but this little B&B felt like home and we absolutely will be back.
