had a really nice couple of nights at the Havelli. quite a unique place I think. It’s in the heart of old Delhi but all things considered remarkably peaceful. I wasn’t entirely sure when I read the reviews but I’m glad I went there. Some clarification for those who are uncertain
1. It’s on a little pedestrian lane that’s actually not too busy and very sweet.
2. Incredibly centrally located. A couple of minutes walk from the mosque.
3. Felt very safe. The usual warnings about pick pockets but I never felt in the slightest bit worried.
4. access is actually quite easy. Bike tuk tuks will take you pretty much to the door. and the road is only a minute or so walk away.
5. there is another property about 50 yards away which also sounds lovely but I didn’t stay there.
6. very fine restoration. I’m told it took five years and I can believe it.
I don’t know that you’d want to stay there for a week. Just because old Delhi is a bit overwhelming. But for two or three nights it’s an experience not to be missed. A haven of peace in a cacophonous frenetic but fascinating part of the city.
